Photoshop for Bloggers Class!

Hey all! I wanted to throw this out there into the blogosphere for anyone who might be interested.  My amazing web gal Erin (who's working on an awesome site relaunch with me planned for next month...weee!!), is hosting a Photoshop for Bloggers class on SkillShare.  I'm obsessed with SkillShare because they offer online classes to take whenever you want, they're super reasonable, and they're taught by awesomely talented and amazing folks.  (Some of you guys might have classes up there - if you do, let me know!)

New Dress A Day - Photoshop for Bloggers Class - Skillshare

As comfortable as I am with clothes, I fall onto the other side of the spectrum when it comes to web/tech stuff.  I've taken classes to help spiff up my knowledge and this one that Erin has put together is exactly what I need to help elevate my skill set.  I think it's going to be especially great for those bloggers out there wanting to make their site as gorgeous as possible, and the best part is that it's only $20...I don't even want to talk about how much I've spent on other classes!  Here's a sample of what you'll learn how to create...

I'll be taking it this weekend and as soon as I'm done I'll share some of my experiences here and you'll probably start to see some changes within the posts!  Yay for getting down with Photoshop :)

Remake: Rainbow Collared Florals

This piece had to be mine solely because of the bold floral print! New Dress A Day - thrift store shopping - Goodwill

There was a lot going on, but the print was too amazing to pass up.  I loved these bright colors...

Just a few small tweaks until this becomes ready-to-wear!  (PS, you'll also get two options of how to style it too!)  Continue reading to see...

I started off by trimming a few inches from the bottom of the dress.

I'm doing this nor only for length purposes, but I'm going to use the excess as a matching belt!

Because it's a thicker polyester, I skipped hemming the piece and just used Fray Check instead.

I added Fray Check all the way around the bottom of the piece and let it dry.

That's all!  The after piece looks just like this...

The print is a smidge too bold for my liking to wear solo so I styled the dress two different ways.  For the first look I added a pink cardigan from H&M on top along with nude Nine West heels.

The pink is bold, however it works with the piece!  It gives just the right amount of "break up assistance" to the dress, minimizing the strength of that colorful and bold pattern!

For the next look, I added a skirt on top to make the piece a shirt!

This vintage green skirt helps break up the pattern while still remaining super colorful.  A pair of Steve Madden heels and Trina Turk clutch round out the ensemble.

Even adding something as simple as a jean jacket works too!!

It's awesome when you can make something this bold feel different just with the pairing of extra garments and accessories from your closet!

Giveaway: Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Happy October 1st!!  This happens to be one of my favorite months for a few reasons... First - My birthday falls smack dab in the middle (10/15!  Where my Libras at?)

Second - Halloween is one of my most favorite days and what's better than a little dress up?

Third - It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I couldn't be more supportive!  We should be aware 12 months out of the year, however having a full month dedicated to education/awareness/support is such a good thing.  So to ring in the month, I'm hosting a giveaway of a special LOFT t-shirt, created in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation...

(PS, that last one totally happened to me...need to transfer that clip and get it up on YouTube so you can see the ridiculousness of college Marisa slapping everyone's hands on the way down to Contestant's Row!)
