Darci's NDAD Creation

When someone sends you a note on cat stationery, it becomes a treasured piece of mail! The lovely Darci in MI sent a remake my way that was striped perfection. Here's her note! New Dress A Day - Cat StationeryNew Dress A Day - Cat Stationery

My crafty sewing friend helped me recreate this dress into something that I'd actually wear.

Time to see what Darci changed this striped apron-y/dress into...

Plus, a fun fact about the dress...it's MADE IN THE USA!!

Striped fabulousness, Darci! I love the colors and the belt paired with it! Seasonal appropriate if you add a sweater on top and let the stripes peek out below. So many fun options! Thank you SO much for sharing - you look gorgeous!

Zhevonne's NDAD Creation

I loved this necklace that Zhevonne submitted! Anything that inspires you on Pinterest that you can recreate on your own is always the way to go. See her lovely creation!

I made one of these for an art project and because it turned out so cool, I made another one! I saw a version of this on Pinterest and thought I could create a copycat. Now here it is :) It's a button necklace made with buttons, felt and chain. Super easy!

I used buttons from my stash and then bought a few from the craft store for RM 0.30 cent a button. It's basically USD zero or something, LOL! I began by pinning the buttons to a piece of felt.

Once all of my buttons were pinned...

...I started to glue the button backs down and in place.

Once everything was glued, I started to trim around the edges of the buttons to cut off the excess felt, leaving me with one buttoned applique.

Next, I took some chain and hand stitched it to each end of the button applique. (If you don't use a clasp like me, make sure there's enough chain so you can fit your necklace over your head.)

From buttons in my stash, to a brand new, blingy necklace!! I get compliments from friends all the time which makes me super excited that I created this myself.

Thank you for inspiring me Miss M.

Thank YOU for submitting your amazing necklace, Zhevonne! Taking inspiration from Pinterest is one of my favorite things to do - I'm constantly inspired by outfits and projects that other people submit and then in turn I create something that makes sense for me! I just love this so much and it's an awesome way to repurpose old buttons that aren't getting any use. It's also a perfect DIY gift for your friends for the holidays as well - got to keep that in mind this year! Keep creating, Z! xo

Natalie's NDAD Creation

Natalie is my kind of girl. Let's just discuss for a second...

  1. Refashioning is one of her favorite things to do. (Samesies!)
  2. One of her first project was making little pillows (Samesies!)
  3. Thinking outside the box and crafting something old into something new. (Samesies!)

When I saw her project I just knew we were destined to be refashioning pals. See what she created...

I've been a fan of your blog for a while now, and I've had a love for sewing since my mom taught me to make little pillows with a needle and thread. I've since upgraded to a machine, and refashioning thrift store clothing is one of my favorite hobbies. Is it because I'm cheap? Yes. Is it because I like thinking outside the box and recycling something old into something new? Yes.

I found this lovely denim-ish button down dress at a Goodwill in Festus for $2.25.

My friend's expression explains how we felt about it initially.

Best. Expression. Ever. See what Natalie did to this denim number...

After taking up the straps, taking in the sides, chopping a bunch off the bottom, and adding a little elastic to cinch the waist some more, I ended up with a dress that I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear in public!

How's about that for a gorgeous new denim jumper???

I think this piece is perfect - what a way to take something outdated and give it new life in a totally current way! It looks like something you'd grab at the store! Natalie, my refashioning BFF, can't wait to see what you craft next!
