155 Days to Go: $1 Remake

It's accessory Thursday!!  PS, I've been so excited about this project!  This was a fab find from Goodwill in Charlotte - it was one of those pay-by-the-pound locations, so this was approx $1. New Dress a Day - DIY - Vintage Clutch - Before Shot - 155

It was in good condition, but it wasn't anything I was super excited about as it was, so I decided to give it some early summer lovin'.  Summer lovin' in this case means neon time!!

I grabbed some amazing animal stencils and began to pull the ones that could get away with being safari-ish.  Giraffe, zebra, a gator of sorts (the gator worked better than the dog...) - I'm covering the bag with animals!

I got my safari stencils ready...

...and gave them a quick spritz of adhesive to keep them stuck to the purse.

I trimmed the stencils and put them in their purse spots.

I'm going to use some spray paint to make my animals and I don't want paint all over the purse, so I taped the stencils down and covered all the other, non-stenciled space with duct tape.

To prep painting, I took a newspaper, lined it in the grass, added my bag, and began to spray paint my face off!!  Bright, neon-y yellow was the color du jour!

I painted one side and let it dry for a few hours before spraying the other side.  After letting the whole bag sit for a few more hours to completely dry (for best results, follow the paint instructions) I began the stencil and tape removal!

This is the most fun part!  Getting to progressively see how each animal turned out. There's a snake!

My final bag looked like this:

I'm totally obsessed!

My neon pink nails matched perfectly.

I'm going to have to rock this with a pink dress soon - like the Gryphon Copycat from a few days ago, you'll be seeing me using this bag often.  Since I can't go to the animals, the animals are going to come to me!
