Holiday Party Dress - You Pick!!

It's holiday party weekend and I need to think wardrobe and want you guys to help!! Here are the options: #1 - Blue beaded vintage dress with a very LARGE slit up the back of the dress. Um, can this be saved???

#2 - Blue satin lace dress that doesn't stay up and has some severe underarm discoloration. YUCK!

#3 - Peach "Gone With the Wind"-esque feeling dress. The color is dreadful against my skin and I feel like a debutante :) Oh, and PS, my entire chestal region is on display.

#4 - 80s satin dress that has a mullet waist. That material is drapey and hits right at my thighs in the front, but in the back it goes longer than my knees. Party in the front and in the back for this one!

The winning pick pulled from comments here, on Twitter, and on Instagram will get the makeover for this weekend's events. Voice off below!!

Ivory Cotton Boho Dress

Today's dress was one that I picked up at a swap party! Zara Cotton Dress

Once I put it on though, it was going to be more of a tunic than a dress! It was super cute, however super sheer at the same time.

There were a few spots as well, but with a little color changing, I knew it could become something totally wearable!

I picked out a bottle of dye and got to work!

PS, the above shade isn't the color I actually used. Any thoughts to what I chose?? Check out the new look:

It turned out a pretty sage/seafoam green!!

I actually chose Rit Dye's Dark Green shade, but it turned out this gorgeous shade when I removed it from the washing machine. I loved how the ruffle at the bottom turned out a little darker too.

I wore my vintage Oregon Trail sweater, as I like to call it because it looks like the people on it were trying to caulk the wagon :) (No people were harmed, er died of dysentery, in the taking of this Oregon Trail inspired-photo.

There wasn't any sand, but these enormous rocks right on the beach. I had my fab Naya boots on (they're on sale now too!) to make the rocky trek down to the water.

It was the perfect December day to BBQ with friends at the beach. It was also the perfect day to be silly on the roof.

December on the beach in a light sweater and top? I'll take it :)

DIY Sweater Hacks!

For today's remake, I began with two things I already had in my collection - they were old H&M sweaters that I wasn't wearing that were in my donation pile. However, for my trip to AZ I needed a couple of sweaters for one of the TV segments that I was doing, so I went right to these both.

Exhibit A (sweater which has an annoying neck):

Exhibit B (sweater which is overly pilly):

Check out and see what I crafted these two into!!

Inspired by something I had scoped out on Pinterest, I trimmed each side of the sweater about three inches, right at the neck.

I picked a fun satin ribbon in a cranberry shade, cut four equal lengths of it (about a foot for each piece), and began to stitch each piece to one of the newly trimmed four corners.

Each piece was stitched in place, and then I began to fix the raw edges of the sweater, hand stitching up and down each side to stop any fraying!

For the pilly sweater, I took my scissors...

...and cut a chunk of the arm off on each side!  (I cut a piece off, about six inches.)

I did the same thing with these raw edges, taking some thread and hand stitching all the way around.

My pieces were complete and ready for some local AZ news, Sonoran Living!!

And...our model T, wore the sweater sleeves as little boot cuffs peeking out of her boots!  They're awesome because they'll also help hold up socks too, depending on how fitted they are!!

Two easy projects using pieces I grabbed directly from my closet...not too bad, eh??
