This piece was very shiny, very dated, and very blue - the latter is the one element that I'm A-OK with! Time to work this into a top for some laid back Christmas Eve-ing with the family!
There were these lovely little beaded appliqués on each shoulder that I began to remove. They're so pretty, but one was beginning to fall apart so I figured that I'd remove and repair to save for another time.
The warped shoulder pads came next...these are obviously not staying put!
I chopped the piece in half next... (Well not literally chopped in half, but you get the idea.)
...and trimmed out the inner layer of blue material. This was attached behind the two drapey layers as a mini camisole or slip of sorts. I think Annie Potts would approve.
I did a little cinch and pinch action at the shoulders to gather the material more and make the center as wide as possible - I put on a long sleeved black t-shirt underneath, pushed the sleeves up to my elbows, and threw on some jeans and boots! Our pre-Christmas gathering is super relaxed, so I got away with jeans!
We caught up, we ate, and we sipped...
I even got some playtime in with my wee cousin Alexander - we had a blast playing with his new Thomas the Tank Engine set and sliding on the kitchen floor in socks.
Post-dinner, we were off to look at lights in the neighborhood!!
