Kitty's NDAD Creation

When Kitty submitted this project, I knew that it would be perfect to feature this weekend for Father's Day! How about some repurposing of men's pieces? I think you're going to love what she created when you see it!

I love, love, love your blog! You've really inspired me to refashion my thrift store finds. I volunteer at the Humane Society Thrift Store in Boulder, CO so I have lots of clothes to choose from! Donations that can't be sold in the store are sometimes generously given to volunteers and I snagged a brand new pair of men's boxer shorts. (We don't sell underwear at the store.) These boxers had a 44 inch waist and were free to me.

There's no better price than free! See Kitty's amazing transformation...

I measured and cut the waist to fit me, shifted the fly front to the side and added a pocket in the fly opening, using the pocket pattern from a dress that I had made already.

Then I hauled out all my blue and white scrap fabrics and trims to see which ones I liked best with the plaid print.

I layered several of the scrap fabrics and trims together and then sewed it to the bottom of my new SKIRT!!!

This was something that I hadn't seen before on any of the blogs I read religiously, yours being the best of course.

On a happier note, the April 2014 issue of Elle magazine featured an Alexander Wang runway look that is extremely similar to my boxer skirt. It was on page 136 in the Fashion Trends section. Luckily I came to my senses before publishing a "B*#ch Stole My Look" post with photos of my refashioned boxer skirt next to Alexander Wang's skirt. (Just kidding!!!)

How gorgeous do you look, Kitty? You are a refashioning genius! I have to make a trip to Boulder to visit you at the Humane Society Thrift Store! I can't wait to see your next batch of pieces :) What a great way to repurpose boxers into something so chic and summery. For more from Kitty, click HERE!

Pam's NDAD Creation

I simply love what Pam did with this piece. Anytime that you see a garment that you love and remake a top or dress that has been thrifted or just aimlessly hanging in your closet, into that piece that you love, I am a happy camper! Copycat pieces are always my favorite, because you're able to enjoy the essence of the original piece for just a fraction of the price. Check out Pam's remake...

This was another shirt hanging in my closet that was just blah.

I loved this shirt from Forever 21...

...so I used it as my inspiration.

See how Pam's shirt, that was just hanging in her closet lookin' blah, turned out!

I cut off a symmetrical piece at the bottom front portion of the shirt...

...and then shortened the sleeves and removed the collar to make my high-low blouse copycat.

How cute did this piece turn out?? I love that you were able to repurpose something in your closet and transform it into a piece that you're excited to wear again, Pam! Nothing like a little re-envisioning to take something blah and turn it all the way around. Rock it out!!

Susan's NDAD Creation

Reader Susan is the best! She crafted something totally summer-perfect that is quite easy to make using all of those tank tops that accumulate in your closet. When my nice tanks get spotted or spilled on (I'm always spilling something...), they get put into my "gym pile" to wear when I work out. Here's another genius way to recycle them. Cut off the bottom portion of it and craft that tank into one of these...

I love your blog and love your daily inspiration and wanted to let you know. Thanks for keeping it up! I started noticing the new trend in stores of skirts attached to tanks, which if strategically placed, will cover the erhmmm excess in the middle :) JOY AND YAY!  So I went to goodwill and found a few pieces that I liked for the fabric.

The dress that I found is perfectly OK, but nothing I would even consider wearing on a daily casual basis, which is how I like my dresses.

See how Susan turns this into her perfect, casual dress!

I removed the top portion of the dress and added a tank instead. I also shortened the dress a bit to hit above the knees - voila!!

It's very comfy and totally casual for wearing around the house and even to Walmart LOLs =) I will have to turn the top part of this dress into a peplum shirt for the next go!

I love easy, summer dresses like these. Totally comfortable, super cute, and ready for an afternoon BBQ or just a veg day running errands! Rock it out sista!! Love how you're working out your refashioning skills. Keep up the fabulous outfits!
