Susie P's NDAD Creation

I always love a good "church lady" dress upcycle!  Susie sent one my way that turned out pretty darn lovely and oh, so perfect for summer!  Check out what she did...

I just happend upon your site and love it!  I have been redesigning vintage dresses for my daughter since she was in high school and still do it, even for profit now and then.  Unfortunately I do not have step by step photos of how I created the new design but I do have "before and afters".  This particular dress was a two piece, what I call a "church lady" dress, that I bought at Goodwill for about $5.99.

I loved the colors and the fabric was a silky polyester which draped beautifully.

How with Susie make this amazing??

As you can see by the finished design...

...it is not a "church lady" dress anymore!

This is such a fabulous remake!  I love halter dresses and this one turned out gorgeous!  Way to go SP!  Looking forward to seeing more of your pieces.

31 Days of Thrift: Day 13

It’s Day 13 of my 31 Days of Thrift and today is Sweater Thursday! DAY 13/31:

#23 – Black/white/silver sweater

I got a few looks from my friends who I went to Housing Works with about this piece, but I think I totally made it work!

I played around with more pattern on pattern action and paired this sweater with a vintage skirt in my collection.

The skirt worked in tying in the black and white from the sweater, but it also brought in some brown to mellow the bold, diamond pattern!  I used a brown belt to help break up some of the busyness as well!

More looks to come...

31 Days of Thrift: Day 12

It’s Day 12 of my 31 Days of Thrift and I grabbed one of the scarves from my stash and went TOTALLY out of the box. DAY 12/31:

#3 – Green ombre scarf

This one takes the cake!

After playing around with it for a bit, the light bulb went off and I turned it into a dress!!

I took the light green side of the scarf and pinched the center edge at my right shoulder.  I added a safety pin to use for the ruching effect at the shoulder and then pulled the scarf around my body on the left side, meeting right below my armpit.  I pinned this area as well as the right edging of the scarf at the torso and lightly hand stitched both spots to keep the center of the dress together.

This style feels super caftan-ish, so it's something that could work just over a bathing suit!

I feel like a Grecian princess in this piece and who would have thought that it started off as a scarf??

More looks coming later today!!
