31 Days of Thrift: Day 9

Day 9's ensemble consists of three separate pieces from my stash. First:

#20 - Vintage Sands Beach Club Day Camp T (PS, thanks to reader Elana, the Sands Beach Club is in Sea Bright, NJ.  It's one of the spots that was severely affected by Hurricane Sandy, so today's piece is a little shoutout going to the Restore the Shore effort!!)

#5 - Vintage floral scarf

So this T must have come from a child's closet because boy was it little!  However, it works just fine because this cropped look is totally in.

I totally thought of the original 90210 when I saw the shirt (Beverly Hills Beach Club, holla!) and that's why I had to snag.

I tied the scarf in my hair and grabbed a beach tote to complete the summery look.

31 Days of Thrift: Day 8

It’s Day 8 of my 31 Days of Thrift and I took this one down the fall weather route...I went into the back of my closet and pulled out some boots to celebrate! DAY 8/31:

#16 – Old Navy layered tank

This tank had layers of silk and chiffon on the front which was totally why I put it in my Housing Works bag.  Nothing like some ruffles to make me smile!

The tank's shade was a super light lavender, so pairing it with something darker purple made it pop a bit more!

I loved the fluttery layers and tried to get an action shot to show them a bit better.  (Next time I'll remove my top layer!!)

This is totally my staple, casual, running errands look.

I think I might add some dye and change up the shade for the next wear!  (Thoughts?!)

31 Days of Thrift: Day 7

It’s Day 7 of my 31 Days of Thrift and I paired two of my pieces together today from my batch of Housing Works thrifted goodies.  A little shorts and stripes action! DAY 7/31:

#8 – Contempo Casuals jean shorts (hey, Clueless!)

#14 - Forever 21 L/S striped tee

PS, these were shorts from the 90s, so I didn't take into account the higher waist and overall tighter fit.  You'll see...

 Going this short makes me super afraid, but alas...they were going to get shot for the sake of this project!!

The shorts were from Contempo Casuals, so that's mainly part (er, most) of the reason why I got them!  It was like I was 11 again when I saw them.

Because of the serious high-waistedness, I paired a thick belt with the ensemble.  I'm not one who thinks the high-waisted look works for me, so I wanted to minimize it.

I have to say, I love the way this looks.  I just have to make sure that I don't do any real bending over :)
