31 Days of Thrift: Day 3 / 4

I decided to combine Day 3 and 4 of my 31 Days of Thrift together, because they're kind of in the same family.  I got a bit of exercising in this weekend and used two of my 31 pieces from Housing Works to get my sweat on!! DAY 3/31:

#9 – Nike athletic shorts

DAY 4/31:

#12 – Lululemon long sleeved top

My workout outfits await...

I wore the shorts with a white tank and my New Balance kicks for a little jog in my neighborhood.

I'm not one to wear shorts like this to work out in, so it was definitely a bit of a stretch.  I'm usually the one covering up her legs in long stretchy pants :)  They are super comfy though, and I'm totally digging the color combo on the side!

I wore the long sleeved top to yoga with a pair of my staple black pants.

I had a tank underneath and I ended up taking the Lululemon piece off once I got warmed up in class.

Pants: Target // Shirt: Lululemon // Flip Flops: Havaianas

Day 3 +4 = weekend-workout-thrifted-threads success.

Michelle's NDAD Creation

There's a floral skirt in my collection that hits me right around calf level and I live it in.  It's got a mix of black, green, and pink shades and it's something that works really well with black tank tops or white blouses, in any season.  Michelle's piece totally reminds me of it...check her project out!

Hello Marisa!  I have been following your blog for about two years and have made some of my own creations, so I thought I'd finally submit one.  I wanted to make a skirt to wear to my sister's bridal shower and I came upon this at a thrift store in Sacramento and it cost $3...

I love floral prints and I thought this was a steal!

Which direction is Michelle going to take this??

It was a little long to begin with, so I knew I was going to be cutting off a bit of the length.  I chopped it in half and ended up with a final product that was adorable and the variety of colors in the skirt allows for lots of versatility.

This skirt works so great with darker colors and will totally pop when you pair it with lighter colors as well, Michelle.  Versatility is right!! I love the pattern - there's been such a resurgence of these 90s florals and I think you nailed this one!  Have SO much fun wearing this, lady!!

Amber's NDAD Creation

Hello from sunny Florida!  I've been following your blog ever since that awesome Yahoo shout out and similar to your story, I found myself without a job, and lots of free time!  So I said, let the sewing begin!  I started with a giant skirt that I bought for $1!

That's my boyfriend TOTALLY willing to take a photo with me. (not) 

That has got to be one of my favorite photos!  Let's see how Amber switches this up...

I measured how much to cut from the skirt...

...sewed a new hem, and then trimmed the excess.

I took the remaining fabric and made some straps.  

I pinched below the boobs for a little more fitted look and ta-da! 

Cinched with a black fabric belt that I already own, and I've got a dress that fits like a charm!  I can't wait to wear it around town. 

Giiiirrrlll...this dress rules.  Everything about it is perfect.  You look amazing and I hope you're wearing this everywhere!  Get an after shot with the BF - I'm sure he's loving how you look!
