I wore this back in September to celebrate my gal B's birthday!  It was a fun cover-up that I tossed on top of an American Apparel tank and some skinny jeans.  I'm really changing it up for this go!

In the interim of eight months, this lovely piece faded at the arms.  I know exactly when this happened as I left the top hanging on a directors chair in my living room right by my big front window for a bit.  (I've since moved the chair away from that window!)  I think it was a blessing in disguise because so many of you mentioned that I should have dyed it in the first place :)

I grabbed some old Aubergine powdered dye...

...loaded the washing machine...

...and had a brand, spanking new piece!

I paired this with one of my fave (and beyond comfy) cotton floral dresses that I scored at a swap party, a pair of Calvin Klein slingbacks from Marshalls, and a flea marketed pair of white aviators.

From jeans and a tank in look #1 to a dress and heels in look #2, that top has gotten some maje mileage after being salvaged from the shredded disaster in the before shot!

My final shot of the day was this...

Yep, I went and brushed my (puffy) shoulder off.

Wednesday Giveaway

Earth Month continues!! Today I'm giving away a little floral goodie pack that's one half crafty and one half glam!

New Dress A Day - DIY - Giveaway - Earth Day

Up for grabs is a pair of costume floral earrings with a pearl in the center (they even look a little like heads of lettuce!) and a mini DIY pressed flower kit!  How cute is this to make pressed florals for stationery or bookmarks?

To enter, leave a comment below with something fabulous you'd like to press (maybe it's a Black Eyed Susan or maybe it's a basil leaf) and a winner will randomly get chosen next week! (All the winners from the past two weeks will be revealed next week as well after a REALLY fun giveaway on Earth Day!)  I just might have to have the winner make me a bookmark to use while I'm re-reading The Great Gatsby before the movie comes out on 5/10!

Tuesday Remake

Here it is!!  Thanks to you guys for helping me pick the dress I wore to my cousin's baby shower! New Dress A Day - DIY - vintage dress - Goodwill - Baby Shower Dress

We all know what the before looks like, so time to check out the rest!

I began by taking off the sleeves...

...along with that collar!!

I did some folding and pinning to get the top portion of the dress looking just how I wanted.

I'm adding straps to the dress, so I decided to make the back of the piece end right around mid back.

I stitched the front and back of the piece while also taking the top in a few inches as well, right at the sides of the bust.

For the straps, I went with elastic just because that was what was in my mom's kit, but this is where a pretty ribbon or trim could work as well too.

I put on my dress and went to celebrate the cuz at her shower!

I think I chose well because not only did I match the wall of the sunroom...

...I matched the cupcake toppers too!

My cousin's favorite beverage is Cheerwine, so there was the most delish Cheerwine punch served to all the guests.  (Cheerwine is this soda that is kind of a cherry-ish Dr. Pepper flavor, if I had to describe, that pretty much is only seen in the South.  Others out there might have better knowledge about the specifics.)  I'm obsessed with Cheerwine too, so I couldn't wait to imbibe!  I need to find the recipe.

There were hanging socks, diapers, and dresses across the fireplace...

...and I got a fun pic of M hugging her new, stuffed pup!

We were also hugging this real pup too.

The M&Ms were personalized with the new gal-to-be's name!  (The baby is being named Logan after our grandfather who passed away a few years ago.  M and her husband decided that would be the name if the baby was going to be a boy or a girl, which is so special!)

The dudes arrived after a day of golfing, and my dad and I had to bring some dramatics out for photo purposes.

And the favors were adorable - everyone went home with cute little floral pots filled with seeds!

It was such a fun day celebrating M...

...and getting to hang out with all the family who came in town for the weekend!!
