Thursday Teaser!!

I had a fun lil' craft day with Sonya Nimri last week and we ended up sorting through some Goodwill bags looking for pieces to work with.  We came across these guys and my mouth dropped!! New Dress A Day - DIY - Miss Sixty Velvet Striped Pants

They are totally bootlegged pirate/clown pants, but check out the amazing close-up of the material.

We were obsessed with the velvet striping, so we removed the pants from the donation pile to create something fabtastic with them!!

The after shots will be posted later today!  What would you make with these?  Or...would you have kept them in the donation pile??

St. Patrick's Day Giveaway!

I've been prepping for my monthly cooking club over the past few days because it was my turn to host this month.  We tied our theme into St. Patrick's Day and created a menu of beer/whiskey-infused recipes.  I made a chili using a recipe of Jimmy Fallon's from when he was on the Martha Stewart Show

I really got into the theme, as you'll see in the next few pics, so obviously a printed plate/napkin duo was totally happening.

I had appetizers out for the gals to enjoy while the rest of the meal was getting warmed up.  Some pretzel chips, lavash crackers, and veggies to go with some pub cheese in a shamrock serving dish...

Oh, hello green cheese!!  Yep, that's pesto gouda...who knew!?!  (It was SO delicious!!)

Those little hats were worn all night and I think we came to a consensus that we'd have to wear them each month because they were so silly, yet so much fun!!

I found some shamrock plants at Trader Joe's so I snagged one and added glitter shamrock stick to it as a little centerpiece.  Themey and fun!

To celebrate the holiday, here's a giveaway to get everyone in the holiday spirit!!

How 'bout some Kelly Green RIT Dye, a little "Who's Your Paddy?" hand sanitizer from Bath & Body Works, and a fab costume bracelet with a four leaf clover?  (I love this little trio SO much!)

To enter, leave a comment below of a favorite St. Patrick's Day food you like, an outfit item that you wear to ring in this holiday, something green you love, a holiday activity or tradition you partake in, and a winner will be randomly picked next week!  (All these goodies will still rule, even after the holiday!!)

I'm Irish so I always remember having the traditional corned beef and cabbage, with stewed potatoes each year when I was growing up.  Lately the tradition has been to head to a local restaurant with a group of friends where they have Irish bands, food (including Irish nachos, my fave!), green beer, and revelers of all ages in all sorts of green and themed clothing including the always welcomed, "Kiss Me I'm Irish" t shirts, dancing the night away.

Monday Remake

Happy first day after daylight savings, friends!!  I'm super excited for the evening light. I'm not super excited about this dress that had a not so cute spot on it.

However, the fabric was amazing!

Aside from the spot on the front, the ivory color just wasn't doing me (and my fair skin) any favors...

...so I thought a color change would be perfection!

I ended up tossing this dress into last week's dye bath of Emerald dye...

...that gave me this piece a week ago...

...and my new dress as well!  (Today's dress was sitting on top of last week's bucket pic, but I didn't even mention it...I have to keep a few secrets!)

I let it dry on the line and then decided to give it a little trim.  I cut off a few inches from the bottom...

...pinned the edge...

...and then stitched it in place to create a new hem.

I love the new length, and I love this color!!

I wore black tights, my black Kenneth Cole boots, and an estate sale necklace to give a bit of modern/edge to the vintage feel of the dress because I was heading to the theater tonight for something a bit non-traditional!  (Nope, it wasn't for Wicked...although this dress would have fit in perfectly there!)

I took my dress and my layers to Hollywood's Pantages Theater to see Mike Tyson's one man show, "Undisputed Truth."  Not sure if anyone caught it on Broadway or at any one of the other tour stops, but that's where I spent my Sunday eve.

Sugar Ray Leonard was in the front row and Tyson kept calling out (and using it in 80% of his material), "Champ, " all night.  It kind of became part of his act.  Also, Evander Holyfield was totally there too.  I remember his ear getting bit off by Tyson in June '97 (I was totally watching it at a high school graduation party) and now they're friends?  Yep, I had no idea.  I was not so secretly into the Flea and Steve Urkel (Jaleel White) sightings too...I mean.

I took a selfie in the gorge Art Deco bathroom at the theater...

...to document the amazing mirrored walls.  Like I said, I didn't do Wicked tonight, but it felt super Wizard of Oz-y!  (PS, anyone see Oz: The Great and Powerful this weekend?  Like?  Dislike?  It's totally on my list :)

Cheers to a fab start to the week!  Yay, Monday!
