I've got three words for today's piece - "Holy sequins, Batman!!"  You'll see what I mean in 3, 2, 1...

Hi Marisa!  I've been thrifting most of my life, so it's really fun for me to guess what you're going to come up with!  When my grandma sent me this dress to "do something with,"  I knew I had to share it with you - it's reminiscent of a glam linebacker and the sequins are right up your alley!

Not only are the sequins right up my alley, we literally share a parking space in the carport!!  I CANNOT wait to see how this turns out.

I didn't change the piece too much, but note the itchy, itchy shoulder "pads"!  Yeah, I got rid of those, and the sleeves,  immediately.

Now it’s something a bit more 60s to fit in with the rest of my wardrobe.  Ta-da!  I'm all set for New Year's Eve!

Happy 2013 to you too Miss K!  I love this dress so much. I would buy this dress immediately if I saw it at a store.  I hope you get many uses out of this dress because it's insane and you look stunning.  Your grandmother has excellent taste and I hope she's pleased with the "do something with this" part :)

Jes' NDAD Creation

Jes sent in this fabulous blue polka dotted dress and it reminded me of a piece I just thrifted myself!  I just might take cues from her to get mine in working condish!  Check it out...

Last year, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law gave me a sewing machine, and I hadn't done much with it over the course of 2012. I started running across blogs where the bloggers remade clothing, and it looked super cute!  I've been wanting to update my shabby and blah wardrobe but didn't have the spare $krilla, so this was my ticket!

I bought your book several weeks ago and LOVE it.  This dress is one that I found at Goodwill for $5.00--I'm a sucker for anything polka-dotted! 

First off, I'm obsessed with those socks!  ("Black & yellow, black & yellow, black & yellow.")  Second, I'm obsessed with Jes' pose.  Great face - we're all shocked too, girl!  What will Jes do with this polka dotted masterpiece?

I removed some length and the sleeves and that was it!!

It turned out so cute...

...and I can’t wait to wear this on my cruise at the end of January!

I wore this on a lovely September day with my Havaianas and my vintage Dooney & Bourke purse during the day and then added a denim jacket for the evening when I headed down to an event at my alma mater, USC.  Unfortunately this lightly covered getup wasn't going to work today, on this much cooler March day.

Wanna see how I paired it?

I added a drapey velvet cover-up, some maroon tights, along with my vintage boots!

I even added a vintage beaded clutch to soften up the color palette a smidge.

Just a few more layers and some darker shades give this summery dress a more wintery feel.

It was the perfect ensemble for a sunny but chilly day!!  The rain is coming today, so I'll be wearing even more layers this weekend!
