Outfit Rewind

Today we're going to do a little outfit rewind!  This is a new themed post that I'm going to bring into the blog schedule.  I've accumulated so many pieces that I want to give new life to them and re-wear them in a totally new light.  New styling, different accessories...basically a post where you can get a 2-for-1, which I'm all about! (ps, little side-note - we have some fun themed days coming into NDAD that will be rolled out little by little, that I'm super excited about!)

The rewind piece for today...

Original post date: 12/31/12 (Click here for project steps and full original post)

I felt ready for the farm with my red boots, however my new look feels much different.  Wanna see??

Bam!!  I paired my shirt with things from my own closet.

My favorite piece from this ensemble is the skirt...a TJ Maxx find from high school that's old school Express.  Yep, it still fits, however it used to hit my knees.  Now it sits a bit higher on my waist!

With Betsey Johnson knit tights (given to me by a friend), Nine West heels (a Marshalls purchase years ago that I have still held onto), a Buffalo Exchange yellow button down vest, and an costume owl necklace, my Part II look gives new flavor to the shirt.

I'm totally loving this rewind look!

There will be more of these to come!!  Happy Friday friends!

Finally Home!!

It's approaching 3am and I just got in from my day of travel that was full of drama!!  (You'll get a new outfit post tomorrow.) The day started off with blue skies...

...and then it all went downhill right after.  Hydraulic problems on the next flight, having to call a new flight crew in when the problem was resolved because the staff was going into overtime, seeing a rogue piece of luggage just hanging out on the tarmac with many, many vehicles passing by and almost driving over it...

...deplaning with all our stuff only to re-plane minutes later, then waiting 1 hour and 45 minutes for our luggage to come around the carousel.  We landed safely and that's all that matters!

However, the highlight of the extremely long wait...aside from watching the tweens go gaga over two of the Jonas brothers (Nick & Joe - I had to look them up to know which ones were actually there, because I'm not up on my Jonas knowledge) who were by the carousels waiting for their luggage from Vail, there was a lookalike Heisenberg from my flight...

I kept on thinking he was Bryan Cranston in character just to make the time go by as he paced around.  Oh, the things you come up with when you've got lots of time on your hands!  (PS, for those non-Breaking Bad-ers, Heisenberg is Bryan Cranston's character on the show.)

OK, it's pass out time for me - I'm about ready to collapse!  New post tomorrow - happy, happy Thursday!

That's A Wrap, Holiday 2012

To kick off 2013, and my final full day in NC, we cooked up a mean meal of black eyed peas, cornbread, green beans, squash, and creamed corn - all good luck foods to start the year with!  I'm not sure if chips, queso, and margaritas are considered good luck too, but we had those bad boys before we dug into the veggies. I figured I'd post a few of my favorite photos from the trip today as a little recap, partially due to the fact that I had to get my suitcase packed before everyone arrived for "Lucky Dinner" - I'll be hand sewing on the plane, y'all!

The trip began with a Charlotte signing where I got to see one of my oldest and dearest friends from NY.  We used to make jewelry and go door-to-door selling our pieces on cookie sheets looking like little cigarette girls at the age of 8.

My favorite thing to get each time I come to Charlotte is Cheerwine, so when I saw this I nearly passed out.  (Cheerwine is a most delicious soda that I've only seen here in NC - any other Cheerwiners out there??)  Oh, and I totally bought a pint.

I came down with a crap cold, but then powered through it!

Christmas came, along with my dad's favorite NY Post that always makes an appearance as well...

We played games with the cousins - actual board games...

...and games involving synchronized leg kicking to "Feliz Navidad"...

I couldn't resist a little dress up in the camo section of a sporting goods store, like you do when you're in a sporting goods store.

We got to catch the reaired episode of the Ricki Lake Show that I did with my extra video snippet included...

We packed in some holiday light viewing and got out to the movies...

...and I even garnered a new nickname...Django 2Chainz.

After an amazing time with the family, I'm all packed and ready to head to the airport for a day of flights and layovers and more flights and more layovers before landing in LA after the sun sets.

May everyone's travels be safe as the vacation and holiday ends and may everyone's work week be easy to mesh right back into!

Also, congratulations to Elizabeth Ryan who's the crafty goody winner from the holiday book order submission.  Everyone who submitted their receipts from 11/22-12/31 will be getting their playlists sent out this weekend!
