Laxmi's NDAD Creation

I've been in an accessory state of mind as of late and this piece that Laxmi sent my way is beyond.  Check it out!

I love reading your blog and thought of sharing this with you.

New Dress A Day - DIY - Clutch

OK, so Laxmi starts with this patent clutch.  It's cute as is, but just you wait...

I hand stitched a cover (like a pillowcase) for my black clutch with a beautiful B&W printed cloth I had.

She put the purse into the little slipcover, added a strap and...

Thank you Marisa & New Dress A Day!!

Thank you Laxmi and hello amazingness!!  I just LOVE that fabric.  What a fun, and non-permanent, way to upcycle a basic clutch in your own collection!!  I think this is going to be added to my project board for over the holidays!

TGIF!

We've made it to the weekend!! I write this as the clock strikes midnight and I'm actually about to fall asleep!  I haven't seen sleep at this hour in a very long time, however with an early morning road trip to San Francisco (yay!!) ahead of me, I want to make sure I don't get drowsy on the road.  Beauty sleep, while being smart and safe is just what the doctor ordered!  And, I even squeezed in some holiday party-ing before my carriage turned into a pumpkin!

I'm looking forward to see my SF'ers this weekend at RGB shop+gallery...

...and there's still time to RSVP!!  I'll be tweeting and instagramming all weekend long from Northern California!!

What's on everyone's weekend agendas?

Thursday Remake!!

I found this piece at a yard sale and took it home with me for $5! New Dress A Day - DIY - Vintage Dress - Before

I was totally obsessed with it when I first laid eyes on it...I LOVED the material and the iridescence.

New Dress A Day - DIY - Vintage Dress - Iridescent Times!

Couldn't wait to get working on it!!

I got to do a segment on Hallmark's Home & Family show and this was one of the pieces I picked to redo during the taping - I needed to find something that I could complete within an hour, so I put my thinking cap on and came up with just the right thing!

I shot all these on set while I was working, so apologies if I didn't get everything shot!!

I began by taking out the center seam of the dress...

...and then cut my length.  I used the edge of the slit at my guide to where to trim.

New Dress A Day - DIY - Vintage Dress - Cutting Short!

Once the piece was shortened and completely open in front, I took some navy velvet ribbon and started to pin around the edges of the sleeves and down the center.  I picked a 7/8" ribbon for the sleeves...

...and a 1/2" ribbon for the center.  I started to sew my trim in place after everything was pinned down!

I stitched a new hem at the bottom of the jacket and took two brooches (I scored them from Forever 21!) along with some metallic ribbon to finish the job!

I paired this with some jeans, a grey tank, and a thrifted H&M (from their Conscious Collection) blouse for a little night of drinks!

I think my favorite part is the velvet on the sleeves...
