Mustaches for Movember!

I've been getting my crafty on making a slew of fun mustache pins and key chains out of felt to celebrate Movember!!

They're all done and just got posted on etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/newdressaday) with proceeds going to benefit the Movember charity!!  Yay for mustaches!!

I made them in traditional hair colors - sorry no blue :( - and there's an array of styles from the fu manchu (which is pretty rad) to the walrus style, to these guys...

...that kind of remind me of...

...the Swedish Chef!  OK, well I think any mustache reminds me of the Swedish Chef!

To add to the stache fun, I found two adorbs mustache rings that I'm giving away!!  They're adjustable and super fun.

Upcoming Signing Dates!!

Hi friends!!  The signing date has been set for San Diego!! I'm heading down next Tuesday evening, 12/4, for a fun craft night-slash-signing at Kettle Coffee & Tea in Escondido!!  There's an eventbrite page that has been set up for the event HERE, with all the details!  There is a $10 door fee that covers all material costs, coffee drinks, and pastries for the craft portion and then books will be available for purchase as well!  Feel free to come to one or both!!

Red Polka-Dotted Remake!

So this piece was beyond calling my name.  I think anything red calls my name louder than before because these red pieces feel like they get me because of my matching hair, you know.  Like this piece.  It GOT me.

There is a fab, tiny, white polka-dotted print that I quite thoroughly enjoyed as well.  After having this piece on for a bit, I think I was having too much fun with the waist straps...

So much so, that I don't think I'll be getting rid of them like I thought!

Plan of attack...start with the front of the dress and remove the seam that's going straight down the center.

I removed about four inches worth of seam...

...and prepped a new V-neckline!

The length was a bit funky too, so I opted to shorten it up.

I pinned my hem...

...got rid of the pads...

...and sewed this puppy in place!

With my dress stitched, all I did to complete the look was take those straps that were supposed to be tied in the back and wrap them around to the front!  I made a little bow and voila...insta-cinched waist and brand new dress!

I mean... I'm kind of loving this look!!
