36 Days to Go: Wednesday Giveaway!

Happy Wednesday!!  Hope everyone is enjoying the week so far :) Today I'm giving away something I'm obsessed with...the cutest Trina clutch/makeup/travel bag.

New Dress A Day - DIY - Clutch

It's the perfect size to hold keys, a wallet, a phone, glosses/mascara/perfume roll-on, gum, and probably a point and shoot camera too.  This is my kind of clutch - something that holds all the necessities!  I also toss in a few band-aids (for those pesky blisters), an extra elastic band, $10, and bobby pins for those super emergency moments!

I love the purple printed fabric too.  It's super fall-ish with the leaves/branches/flowers!

To enter, leave a comment below with your favorite fall color/item/treat that you look forward to once summer has ended!  It's still super hot by me, and fall isn't in the air yet, but I'm always into the seasonal autumn coffee beverages at Peet's and Starbucks.  Bring on the pumpkin and gingerbread...but not until we're out of the 80s :)  A winner will be randomly chosen next week!!

37 Days to Go: $1 Remake

At first glance, you might be thinking, “what on earth are you doing purchasing that dress with a big, ole bite taken out of the bottom?”  It’s totally shredded, I know. New Dress A Day - DIY - Vintage Dress - Before - 37

And there are holes on top of the completely shredded skirt!

But check out that glorious beaded waist!  That’s worth the price of admission alone! (Oh PS, price of admission today, just a buck!)

The skirt just wasn’t happening, so I began my detachment by removing the zipper that was sewn in place from about the waist to a little lower than the tush area!

With the zipper gone, I began my trim right below the beaded area.  I meticulously followed the seam…

…until I was left with two pieces - a torn up skirt...

...and a gorgeous buttoned top!  I loved the buttons that lined the back of the piece, so I opted to make this a cover up!

I put on my fave American Apparel tie dyed top with a magenta Hanky Panky lace cami underneath (the arm holes come close to hitting my waist, so the lace was a lovely cover up) and my skinny jeans to pair with my new top that I turned into a little cover up.

Nothing like some front to back action!

I love the subtle seafoam-y green color

…however I couldn’t help to think that a little dye job could make this bolder.  What do you think?  It was the perfect outfit to do some errand/event hopping in!  Got to meet up to celebrate the birth of the lovely BU (who is also an amazing photog) over pie at one of my favorite downtown LA joints, The Pie Hole.

The Mexican Hot Chocolate pie is TO DIE FOR - I couldn't contain my happiness with each bite taken.

Of course I followed pie with dinner, you know, like you do.  This is the way I like to roll.  Dessert first whenever possible!

38 Days to Go: Weekend Thrifting!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  I squeezed in just a little bit of garage sale-ing and found some ridiculously amazing clip on earrings and a few pins!  With my strained earlobes, thanks to heavy earring wearing in the 90s (I need to find pictures to share with you), I'm all about clips!  I'll even add clip on backs to hanging earrings that I have/see out on shopping excursions just so I can wear them. These were 80s glitz to the max!! (PS, who else wanted to visit The Max on Saved By the Bell with the amaze multi-primary-colored lightning bolts, triangles, and squiggles on the walls?)

I'm obsessed because the dangly flower clips I snagged...

...totally remind me of Marc Jacobs enamel studs!

I scored the six pieces for $5 too which was a total steal!  Super fun weekend finds!
