Week 30: Jessica
I think I was being channeled to work on today’s piece for some reason. I had all these hidden and subliminal messages that kind of just pushed me in the direction that I went.
FIRST: A viewing of Summer School (because I can’t ever turn away when it’s on TNT, even midway through) and Kirstie Alley in a denim top. Yeah, 1987!!
SECOND: Some scouring on the Urban Outfitters site (because I’m always scoping out the virtual sale racks) which led me to this click.
THIRD: Skimming over the tag of this dress just made a certain someone pop out who has been all over the news (more than the usual) for the past week it seems.
I mean, he’s been all over the place because of his giggle fit and well, the fab Gloria is his mama…
…so this triumphant piece of light denim deliciousness, sent from Jessica in Fayetteville, NC, was what the signs were pointing to, or at least what I thought the signs were pointing to in my magic-filled head.
“I’m obsessed with denim and it’s everywhere now, except it just doesn’t look like this dress! Haha! This piece had a moment thirty years ago (and still managed to find a home in my basement) and deserves another shot. It’s Gloria Vanderbilt and needs a bit of a 2011 makeover which you can most definitely handle.”
Week 43: Lily
When I made my way through the packing tape and started to open the box this piece was in I smiled immediately. Lily in FL sent this little piece of sunshine my way…“I found this at a local thrift store – the ruffles on the sleeves were cute and I know you’ll be able to “make it work”!!
I was obsessed with the pinks, purples and greens on this dress!! It’s like this fabric was made from my dreams. It looked a little something like this…
It was a super thick polyester/cotton blend, feeling almost like it should be one of those bold shower curtains that Urban Outfitters sell.
There wasn’t a whole ton of shape and I felt like I was wearing a pillow sham!! I knew exactly what I wanted to to with this…looking like a pillow sham will make me sleepy and it’s kind of hard to nap at work
Day 364. 1 day and $2 left to go.
Since I’ve got an extra buck in my pocket, i thought my second to last day should utilize the excess dollar…consider this part one of Day 364!!
Now this muumuu, complete with the leopard print and silky teal collar…hello Blanche Devereaux!! I guarantee this was in the wardrobe room of The Golden Girls at some point! It’s a sleep dress of sorts (full on zipper down the front…) that I knew I just had to have a go at.
I mean it would just be silly to turn down leopard print, right??
Day 347. 18 days and $21 left to go.
Must I even call them out??
Those sleeves!! Those sleeves!! I felt like I should be in the company of these Shakespearean actors as we were all rocking the billowy sleeves.
Oh Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou a lovely ensemble from this night dress??
Day 336. 29 days and $32 left to go.
It’s day 6 of…
Today’s number…
Literally came across this green hoodie in my Halloween-ing hunt and thought it would be perfection for my costume idea. Oh, and my costume plan of attack you may be asking?
Hit Girl from the graphic novel/movie, Kick Ass. So, today’s dye pick is PURPLE!!
