Week 12: Wooly Mammoth Part II
Road trip continues! I finally finished up the sweater that I teased a few days ago – reminder below!

Wooly Sweater - Before
This was a piece that I got for a buck years ago and just never ended up wearing it. Wool in Los Angeles isn’t the most practical thing so it was brought to my storage unit and put in my donate box with a few other heavy sweaters.

Wool!!
When this trip came to fruition, I went back to that box and decided that I’d try to make it work on the road that I thought would ultimately be colder than Wilshire Blvd. (It’s been quite warm, however this piece was going to do the trick acting as a warm enough top that wouldn’t constitute a jacket!)
Before we get to the sweater, small trip recap!
Week 13: Football Sunday!
It’s been a little hectic in my neck of the woods, sewing aside, because my parents who have been my neighbors here in Los Angeles for the past few years are now North Carolina bound! All of my before pictures have been shot at their house, so the blog has also reaped the benefits of their close proximity and front lawn.

Backyard Workshop!
Come the beginning of February, I’ll be embarking on a little road trip heading down south to help them get situated in their new digs and you’ll all obviously be coming along with, via photos and maybe some video
It’s definitely bittersweet, and I’m sure I’ll have my moments where I get sad, however I feel so lucky and blessed to have had them so close for the time they were here. It’s an exciting move for them to be close to family and I’m looking forward to trips and more extended family visits. Today we had a little goodbye gathering where friends and family stopped by for pizza, stories, and football. I wore a $1 find that was completely fitting for today.

Vintage SF!
A vintage t-shirt from the 49ers 1988 NFC Championship! It was a perfect fit and honestly one of the softest and most deliciously comfy shirts. Unfortunately this shirt was not lucky…

OT loss
…and since this shirt did not bring luck, I’m going with this one for next week!

Giants time!
Sorry Pats fans, even though I’m a Jets enthusiast, I’m going with the other NY team to take the Super Bowl. We’ll see if this shirt brings any luck in two weeks!
Week 51: Caroline Part II
It’s Part II from yesterday’s “To Be Continued…” day using the second piece that Caroline from SC mailed my way. Polka dots for the Super Bowl and this fab vintage printed dashiki for today.
I LOVED this pattern – it was awesome but I had a whole tunic vision in my head for this though…
Week 51: Caroline
Prior to figuring out all the details of what was going to go down for year two, I had gotten numerous requests last year of readers wanting to donate pieces my way. I had originally intended to do a ‘Donation Week’ as another theme before the year’s end, but then had grand ideas to make year two all about your stuff, which I am LOVING so far
I received this dress/scrub-esque piece along with another similar one, which will be donned tomorrow, from Caroline…in the City (anyone else remember that fab show?) Caroline is actually from SC, so I’m just going to do some blending action and call her Caroline in the SCity.
Le piece…
Hello Twister board, right?? I chose it mostly because of the colors and the team I was rooting for in today’s Super Bowl!
Day 75. 290 days and $286 left to go.
Woo hoo!! It’s Day 75 friends!! If we were working in years, it would be our golden/diamond anniversary
Let’s just wait for day 275 to do something real bling, bling, how does that sound? Today we’ll have to just go with this collared, muumuu-y, stretchy-ish puppy.
Yikes, is probably what you’re thinking. This orangey base dress with yellow/blue/pink/green flowers had not only a super big collar (what’s crackin’ 70s?) but a super big cigarette hole!!
Now I didn’t see this as I was sorting through big piles of goodies last Sunday – I think I got a little caught up in wanting to make it to the Super Bowl festivities on time that this ciggy mark slipped past my tired and sunglassed eyes. But, alas, it was something that I would need to stitch up along with the length, the sleeves and the body of the dress.
I also wanted to deepen the V, so I grabbed my seam rippers and took a cue from Lil’ Jon and got low.
Well hello new long sleeved mini dress! You look so lovely combined with my vintage yellow button-down vest and navy belt! The color palette was rather bold, but for such a sunny LA day, it worked perfectly. Allowed me a little time to take a break or two from the office and go outside for some vitamin D. Thanks to my Leonard Cohen lovin’ colleague JT for snapping the photos.
It’s almost Friday, and nothing is better than a Friday on a holiday weekend… Let the party almost begin!! xx Marisa
