103 Days to Go: Andrea’s Donation
I received this gorgeous piece from Andrea in Brooklyn a little while back and finally got to getting it wear worthy!
Hi Marisa!
I was cleaning out my closet when I came across this dress I bought on eBay years back. I love the cotton material, the colors, and the vintage-type, stripe/floral design. At the time, it reminded me of a summer episode of Sex in the City! The top part is tight on me and I was originally going to make it into a skirt but since I do not have any time to work on it, I am passing it along to you as I know it will be in good hands! Enjoy! Take care and happy sewing! Andrea
I was crushing hard on this fabric. Check it out!
I can totally see this pattern and style of dress being something Carrie Bradshaw would have rocked, similar to this vintage piece Patricia Field outfitted her in below…
Small problemo (and the same one as Andrea)…too tight!!
I just couldn’t get that zipper pulled up and had to come up with a plan. Guess what? I came up with a plan
133 Days to Go: Heidi’s NDAD Creation
This was one where I too became obsessed with the fabric asap. Just read along to see how my gal Heidi describes it because I totally concur!
Inspired by your blog, here is one of my transformations. I transformed a skirt into a dress – it was really simple and took very little work. The reason why I’m not pictured in a “before” is because the waist was too small on the skirt. I’m always apprehensive about buying things at Goodwill because they’re usually in the $4 range, and sometimes require a lot of work, but the print on this dress was way too fun.
What exactly is it? Dancing women and men in 90s business attire? Whatever it was, I wanted it on my body.
I want it on my body too!! Let’s see where Heidi takes this!!
Week 27: Jessica S.
I know that it’s officially fall, but is anyone feeling true fall temps yet? Granted I live in a climate that doesn’t see such segmented, ‘true’ seasons, and it tends to feel like summer up until, well, Thanksgiving at times, but still it seems like the summa, summa, summa-time is holding on! (This video always makes me happy and you can’t ever go wrong with Fresh Prince/Will Smith!)
When I saw Jessica’s creation, I thought it was fab – something that works for warm-degreed days, but something that will also work as a great transitional piece into fall with boots, cardis, tights, oh my! Check it!
“I started reading your blog and have been inspired to do remakes of my own. Here is one I did recently.
The shirt pattern was so fun and I liked the neckline even though the size was obviously way too big. The shirt also had buttons all down the front so the neckline kinda looked like a waistline…
Week 41: Meredith
I was going to save this for an upcoming muumuu week (thanks to all of you who have been sending muumuus my way…I’ve got enough to devote a week to them…maybe a muumuu month even!!) but thought it would be fun – and time efficient – to work on one today!! Meredith sent this my way from San Diego!
A slightly ruffled neck muumuu with a great color palette? Love!! The length and the size, don’t love!
“This muumuu has a big zipper down the front and you’ll probably be swimming in it! I was at a garage sale and found this with a box of blankets and sweatshirts and thought of you immediately. I would never have thought twice about a muumuu if it wasn’t for you. Have fun sweetie!”
OK, let’s have some fun!!
Week 43: Linden’s NDAD Creation
