Week 6: Brittney
This dress was sent to me by Brittney, who was the lovely reader who crafted that knit rose for me that I wore a few weeks back… (Refresher HERE)

Brittney's knit rose!
This brown dress was in the package she forwarded and this is what she had to say:
“A friend was going to take a bunch of clothes to Goodwill, and she let me look through them first. I didn’t find anything that I wanted to alter, but I knew I wanted to send to you. When I pull out my mom’s sewing machine, it’s usually to work on a quilt, make curtains, or mend a small hole in a seam. But I’m on the lookout for something I can recreate, and when I find it, I’ll definitely send in pictures.”

Week 6: Brittany - Before
It’s a super thin material with a ruffled edge neckline.

Ruffles have ridges!
The dress is a bit frumpy on me, so I have a few tricks to work out to make it out-of-my-house ready!
Day 338. 27 days and $30 left to go.
Since dye week and Halloween weekend came to an end, I had to go out and snag a non-dye-needed piece to create for the day. I thought this dress would work perfectly for the day because there is a celebration to be had for my awesome brother/blog photog’s birthday!
The ruffles remind me of layer cake so it just made sense…
Day 325. 40 days and $43 left to go.
In anticipation of heading back to LA where it was supposed to be cold and rainy (a complete departure to my NY temps) I had this fabulous long sleeved and ruffled number down for the cause.
I wanted something that wouldn’t take multiple hours as I just got home and am in total jet lag mode. This Holly Hobbie-esque dress (did anyone else think this?? It’s not as patchworky as HH’s but it just feels super prairie like the doll’s outfit!) only had two major steps which was perfect!!
This is also something that will work nicely with tights and boots on this less that 70 degree day, so let’s get to work!! Continue reading…
Day 308. 57 days and $59 left to go.
Ruffle City USA!! This tiered cotton dress with an overly ruffled bottom and pouffy sleeves that almost punched me in the chin when I moved my head (they were sans shoulder pads, but had some thicker gauzy material/accordion folded/sleeve flair that boosted them up as I walked) was not jiving with my cool, easy, breezy Saturday dress code, that’s for sure!
I love ruffles but not when it looks like this!
Day 287. 78 days and $80 left to go.
It’s Saturday! Sun is out, college football has arrived, you couldn’t put a bigger smile on my face if you tried
My dress for today had a mix of pleats and ruffles. I loved the print of the fabric too – I really liked the flowery business going on, but that ruffle at the bottom was trouble.
