Week 9: Val’s NDAD Creation

Feb 20, 2012 | 20 Comments

I had a fun little errand/catch up Sunday which had me in my car for most of the afternoon.  Best part of the day was coming across a lemonade stand run by two very fashion savvy gals, Julia and Nytalya.  The one exception was that there was no lemonade but yummy M&M cookies and duct tape wallets instead.  Hello, lemonade stand of my dreams that doesn’t even include lemonade!!  I mean…

Budding entrepreneurs, selling very crafty wallets and delish snacks on the sidewalk = perfect way to end a day of running around.  I’m going to have to check back with my new amigas next weekend.  I snagged a wallet for myself but may have to snag another to giveaway here!!

Today’s creation comes from my gal Val (hey, that rhymes!) who decided to make over two separate pieces and wear them together.  (Love that pairing!!)  This is what she wrote…

“I have been reading your blog for a while now, and I was particularly inspired a while back when you dyed a lacy shirt.  I decided to try it out myself with an old coffee stained vintage shirt that I found for fifty cents at an antique store.

I also had an XXL large dress that I bought for a Halloween costume a while back, and I decided that these two should come together!

Week 22: Laura & Evie’s NDAD Creation

Nov 27, 2011 | 16 Comments

Two words sold me on today’s remake from Laura – INSTANT CUTENESS!!

I think you’ll all see why in just a few…

“Now, our model today is Evie and in an in-between size right now.  2T fits, but is too short, and 3T in general is too wide and sometimes too short.  More often than not, it’s Aunt Laura to the rescue! (All of her dresses that fit come from the my-Aunt-Laura-loves-me collection.)  This example was from a local consignment sale.  We paid $1.50 for the outfit.  It’s a 3T, and while the capris fit, the shirt was both too wide and too short.

Um, look at this beauty!!  What a gorgeous little gal!!

We also hated the strings at the shoulders, so that needed fixing too.

The strings, the strings!

I’m not a fan of those strings either Laura!!  Let’s see how the rest of it turns out…

Week 29: Copycat – Anne Fontaine

Aug 30, 2011 | 31 Comments

I was mesmerized by this collar when I saw it in Lucky this month.  It was in the Paris accessory trend section which I was obsessed with as soon as I saw the Chloé and Christian Dior pieces featured.  If only there was a French macaroon on the page as well…

I’m getting red shirted today!!

Week 32: Kate - Before

Thanks to Kate in MD, I received this seemingly awesome top in the mail.  Zac Posen for Target, hello!!  His collection premiered last April and fell during my year of no shopping, so I was just left to drool over the collection via photos.

Now from the front, it looks fab.  But the view from the back…pucker up, baby!!

Wrinkled and puckered!

Wrinkled and puckered!

“I’ve been going to Goodwill looking for things to refashion and I spotted this funky top and thought it was too good to be true for only $3!  Until I took the tags off, washed it, and FINALLY noticed the pulled fabric all across the back panel.  For months I hunted for another piece of fabric that would complement the existing colors and feel of the piece thinking I would replace the whole back panel, but I gave up.  And so I bequeath you…”

Aside from the wrinkles, there was puckering on a few spots that even after ironing…

Iron Man!!

…wouldn’t come out.  What shall I do?!
