Week 31: Val
OK, it’s back into the swing of things!! We’ve got some family in town so it’s been on the go – I feel like a tourist again in LA, which is really fun. This polka dotted piece came from Miss Val in Eugene, OR and is going to be the weekend wares!
“Miss Mariss, I grabbed this when I was thrifting at Goodwill during my last stop. I think the colors are really pretty, but it definitely needs some work. It’s like a pastel snowstorm and hail patterned dress, LOL. Can’t wait to see the finished product, girl.”
Ha, it’s totally a scattered showers dress Val!! Lots of dots and even a few holes…
Not the most fun dress right now, but we’ll get it to a chic spot (PUN!!) in no time!!
Week 48: Laura’s NDAD Creation
I love it when I get emails from the youngins’. I’m still totally young myself, but it’s awesome when I get emails coming in from those born the same year as when I got my favorite velvet red J Crew pea coat in high school (that I totally adore and whip out during special occasions) that’s now deemed ‘vintage.’
Today’s remake comes from my gal Laura who happens to share the same last name as some of my favorite chocolates…
She’s a college freshman in Huntingdon, PA which I remember fondly back in those high school days I mentioned earlier…I spent a week at Juniata College one summer for the “Volleyball Express” volleyball camp located in that Pennsylvania hood. I think I was traumatized by the intense workouts and the heat that I swore off going to any school in PA
Back to L Dub and her story that made me smile…
Week 50: Copycat – J Crew
It’s COPYCAT day!! Week two of copycatdom has arrived.
Today piece is inspired by J Crew’s marino lace shell.
It originally retailed for $228 and now it’s on sale for $139.99 – check it here! My version cost me just $1 using this pink frock that I snagged for that buck…
…and this tank that came from my abundant collection.
This one had become rather dingy and was on the ‘gym’ side of my drawer…slight staining under the pits and random spots here and there. Transformation time has arrived
New Dress A (Holi-)Day Week: Monday
OK, I just couldn’t resist a little theme week before we start anew in January!! Thanks to CB for coming up with the name…welcome to the first annual New Dress A (Holi-)Day Week!! See how I mentioned first annual…yeah, this one’s a keeper!!
Tis the season for holiday parties aplenty, right! Be it work soirees, cocktail parties, or holiday shindigs with friends, there’s lots of gathering and celebrating to be had. Now I don’t know about you, but I’m still on a budget this season and am going to craft some fun ensembles for all the get-togethers without spending any serious cash. Guess who’s got two thumbs and is back to one dollaring this week…this girl!!
Tonight’s ensemble began looking a little bit like this…
I mean get a look at those velvet edges!
Day 320. 45 days and $47 left to go.
It’s a light denim shirt day, y’all!! I know I took a country-western wedding dress and redid it just a few days ago (Day 318) and I’m going to work with this light denim, seemingly a lil’ bit country, overly accented (for my tastes) shirt which was in a little need of some de-flaring.
It’ll get there and look just like a few mainstream pieces that can be found window-shopping at the mall soon enough…
