Week 31: Val
OK, it’s back into the swing of things!! We’ve got some family in town so it’s been on the go – I feel like a tourist again in LA, which is really fun. This polka dotted piece came from Miss Val in Eugene, OR and is going to be the weekend wares!
“Miss Mariss, I grabbed this when I was thrifting at Goodwill during my last stop. I think the colors are really pretty, but it definitely needs some work. It’s like a pastel snowstorm and hail patterned dress, LOL. Can’t wait to see the finished product, girl.”
Ha, it’s totally a scattered showers dress Val!! Lots of dots and even a few holes…
Not the most fun dress right now, but we’ll get it to a chic spot (PUN!!) in no time!!
Week 47: Piece 2 from Dye Tutorial
l figured that while I was at it doing a dye tutorial yesterday, I’d kill two birds with one stone!
It was reminiscent of the barong I remade and dyed on Day 85.
The material I came to learn was a banana fabric coming from banana fibers. Had a similar consistency to organza. So this piece I felt more inclined to change the shade of because there were beautiful floral details on the sleeves and on the back of the piece that couldn’t really be seen…
…so I opted to toss it in with the fuchsia bath!! Why not, right?
I had a feeling it would turn out a bit differently, shade wise, because of the fabric…want to check it out?
Day 238. 127 days and $126 left togo.
Saturdays are literally the best. My Saturdays tend to be full of playing catch up complete with laundry, car washes, and trips to Target to grab paper towels, however today included none of that. I took the entire day off from erranding (woo hoo!!) even though I’m sure I’ll be playing catch up over the next few days.
Instead of Target, I took a trip to the nail salon to treat myself to a little pedi – no mani’s yet…my index finger is still recuperating from when I sewed through it, i.e. there’s still a hole
For my day of relaxing, I went with something floral and super summery.
It’s big, but that’s not the main issue. The below is the problem! Continue reading…
