This tweed dress remake was one of my favorites from last year! It’s President’s Day, so this tweed look felt a bit Washington to me – perfect thing to re-post for today! My sewing machine has come out of the moving boxes, so it’s back to the grind! You’ll see what I’ve been working on this week. I hope those of you who have off today enjoy an extra bit of R&R, Three day weekends are always a treat!
I’ve had this tweed dress for a while but just haven’t been inspired to do anything with it. Do you guys ever feel that way about things – you either have errands, projects, or tasks to complete and you just can’t motivate to get ‘em done? I feel that way about many things (I have a bag of clothes in my trunk that need to be dropped off at the dry cleaners, yet they’ve been there since Thanksgiving…) and this dress has been one that I’ve just been staring at.
It’s still way warmer here than anywhere else in the country (Atlanta, where y’all at right now?? The newscasts have been comparing your city to The Walking Dead. Just stay safe and beware of those zombies, k!!) but a chill in air has started to make way. Today I finally brought out the tweed to make it work.
It’s about as close to a winter wardrobe as I’m going to get right now!
Hi everyone! I’ve been a bit offline the past week because I’m moving (yay!! still in LA, but to a space where I’ll have an actual studio to work in!!) and have been in crazy boxing up mode. Alas, I’m back and have some really fun remakes around the corner.
This is just one you get to look forward to…
And, here’s another…
Also, a winner will get announced later today from the pre-holiday goodie giveaway (someone is getting a chic, new Rafe purse!!) and I see a bunch more giveaways coming up while I take down the arduous task of boxing up my apartment!
It’s holiday party weekend and I need to think wardrobe and want you guys to help!! Here are the options:
#1 – Blue beaded vintage dress with a very LARGE slit up the back of the dress. Um, can this be saved???
#2 – Blue satin lace dress that doesn’t stay up and has some severe underarm discoloration. YUCK!
#3 – Peach “Gone With the Wind”-esque feeling dress. The color is dreadful against my skin and I feel like a debutante Oh, and PS, my entire chestal region is on display.
#4 – 80s satin dress that has a mullet waist. That material is drapey and hits right at my thighs in the front, but in the back it goes longer than my knees. Party in the front and in the back for this one!
Which one do you like best??? Leave your thoughts below…
One month of costume inspiration from our favorite movies and TV shows continues!
Today’s costume comes from:
One of my favorite scenes from 500 Days of Summer was shot at downtown LA’s Bradbury Building and I couldn’t wait to go inside!
Zooey Deschanel played Summer to Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Tom and the city of LA played the third lead!
I went with Zooey Deschanel’s look from the end of the film, so the key Summer costume pieces that you’ll need include:
1. Beige Trench Coat (Mine is old Anthropologie, but this H&M one is perfect at $25!)
4. Black Briefcase or Purse (mine is thrifted from Goodwill – this is something easily grabable from your accessory pile!)
5. Thick Framed Glasses (super Zooey-esque cheap frames from Amazon)
“I think it’s official. I’m in love with Summer.”
