Royals Week: Day 1
In celebration of the upcoming nuptials of Wills and Kate Middleton this Friday, I thought it would be fun to do a theme week!!
Today’s inspiration…Kate’s engagement dress by Issa!!
I loved the way this piece fit her and the fabric, the flowiness…it was a total hit and it cost $535. Here’s my version…
Week 50: Caroline Part III
I decided that I couldn’t let the excess fabric from this piece go to waste and had to use the rest up – I went back to the dress that Caroline sent me…
I’m taking the whole ‘snout to tail’ thing to heart – it’s just my version of cooking the entire pig, using all the bits and pieces of this dress up!
Week 51: Casey
Today’s dress came from Casey P. in Cincinnati and I loved what she said when she found this.
“I saw this dress when I was at the Goodwill and it made me think of the dress you wore on Nate Berkus! Good luck!”
When I saw the piece I felt the same way…so much so that I tried to recreate the same before pose.
Before pose: Week 51!
Before pose: Day 297!
I did the same bun, wore the same Havaianas, cocked my head in the same direction…not too shabby, eh?
Day 360. 5 days and $6 left to go.
Look at this shiny pink number complete with some height at the shoulders, tapered sleeves and a lacy collar!!
It brought me back like 20 years because it actually reminds me of this shiny peach two piece top and culottes (yes, I was the queen of culottes when I was a lass) I wore when I was a kid – the shiny fabric with subtle leaves imprinted in it screamed Marisa’s childhood wardrobe. Not only was I reminded of my wardrobe, but I was reminded of the wardrobe of a certain other person…
Tom Hanks!! I remember watching Bosom Buddies when it went into syndication on like TBS or USA and clearly loved the ‘fancy’ dresses they wore. Such style for those two goofballs!! Tom’s rocking the lacy wrap top dress and so am I today! I’m just going to throw it in a time machine (aka, a seam rip/sew combo) to take it out of the 80s.
Day 308. 57 days and $59 left to go.
Ruffle City USA!! This tiered cotton dress with an overly ruffled bottom and pouffy sleeves that almost punched me in the chin when I moved my head (they were sans shoulder pads, but had some thicker gauzy material/accordion folded/sleeve flair that boosted them up as I walked) was not jiving with my cool, easy, breezy Saturday dress code, that’s for sure!
I love ruffles but not when it looks like this!
