Week 25: Birthday Tank!!
yIt was my birthday over the weekend – I turned the big 3-2!! (PS, thank you to all those who sent notes/emails/cards my way – I was ecstatic to receive all the warm wishes and love!) It’s my Magic Johnson/David Beckham year (#32)!! (I’ll leave out that OJ Simpson also wore 32. We both went to USC, that’s all we have in common!)
So, I went a bit themey on the top I wore for the day. Not throwing a big shindig this year, as my deadline is a week away, but will do some sort of belated birthday/holiday/housewarming celebrating later where I am totally going to try to make a version of this…
Since sweets were on the mind, and it was National Sweetest Day…
I couldn’t resist a little DIY geared in that direction.
Week 25: Emily’s NDAD Creation
Being that it’s my birthday weekend…
…I had to share this creation with you guys that I got from Emily for her daughter. (My fun bday outfit will be shared tomorrow!!)
This is what she sent!
“Way back in early-ish 2010 when I first found your blog I thought, “I should try this!” but of course, never got around to it until now. I actually used to re-make thrift store clothes into garments for my younger sister when I was a kid, all by hand – not so much to wear, as to play in, but I identified with your blog right away.
Did someone say party dress??
Week 36 – Jennifer’s NDAD Creation
Today’s outfit gets sent my way from my gal Jennifer, and I adored her story, as my dress when I turned 30 was on the cheap too!
“Since I couldn’t afford a new party dress for my big dirty thirty outing I decided to splurge $5 at Salvation army thrift store and upcycle my dress…
Week 36: Melissa
My navy blue number was sent in from Melissa in MI!
“I bought this dress at a 50 cent tag day at the Rustic Market here in Grand Rapids, MI. I’m a big thrift shopper and have set rules about trying things on before I buy them. Well, it appeared large enough and since I was running late for work, bought it anyway, with visions of elegant dinners at restaurants overlooking Lake Michigan, while wearing my simple, yet sexy dress.
Well, just can’t break your own rules without paying the consequences. With an ample bustline, I looked like a human cartoon. I hope it finds a new home with you Marisa!”
Is it wrong that I’m secretly thankful that you broke your rule Melissa? I’m loving getting the chance to work on this piece today.
Week 50: Kathy
It’s a plaid day today thanks to Kathy in San Diego
I got this a while back and finally put it to use.
The main issue with this was the size on me. I loved the colors in the striping…
…but it was a super busy pattern on a piece that was too big, so I had to do a little bit of adjusting to do!
