Remake: Art Deco Beaded Top

I don't have a ton of luck with shades of ivory. They either wash me out (thanks, Irish/English skin!) or feel super yellowy.

This shirt has the latter feeling and it's not just the stains under the pits!! 😂

But the BEADWORK!! The glorious beadwork!! That's what sold me on this shirt. I was obsessed with the art deco-y, feathery/leaf print at the collar.

I wasn't about to let this shirt win, so I did what I do a lot of the time. I grabbed some wine. OK, not exactly the wine you're thinking of...

I added my shirt to a dye bath (Wine dye can be found here!) and let the piece marinate. When working on this shirt, it got me thinking about using real wine to dye! I know - why waste, BUT, let's see if some leftover cab from cooking can do the trick! That'll be coming soon...

When I first saw the piece post-dye, I was completely blown away. It turned into something SO spesch. 

It's literally the shade of m'dreams!!

No, but really...look how the beadwork pops!  

And PS, not gonna lie. This shirt has total mullet qualities. Business in front and PARTY IN THE BACK. I mean, look at those buttons!!! 

Saying I got excited was a total understatement.

From start to finish, this piece went around the moon and back! I can't wait to test this out with some skirting options - there's so many different ways to rock this piece.

This is a color / beverage I can always get on board with!

Remake: Ivory Button Down Dress

I loved the style of this dress and the fit of this was just perfect. 

Cute pockets (woo, pocketssssss!!) but no belt (that's easily fixable!)...

...and some funky purplish stains all over. Check it out closer below!

That wasn't going to be enough to keep me from making this dress the awesomest dress it can be!!

That's one BIG bottle of dye 💙!

I took my dress, tossed it into the washing machine with a full bottle of Rit Dye, and out it came looking brand, spankin' new!

I loved the shade of blue it came out post-wash!!

You can't even tell there were spots there to begin with!

It was just the thing to wear for a night out in the city!

I paired it with a floral belt from a previous remake from 2011 (woah, that's a LONG time ago!) that added some extra pastels to the mix! 🌷🌸🌷

This was for sure, one of those "kick your heels up" kinda nights!

From stained and eh, to new tailored staple. Oh, what a little dye can do!

Remake: Ice Dyed Top

I love to dye. We all know this! But, today's piece is getting dyed in a way that I've never tried before! (Cue the super excited feels rn.)

I had an ivory silk top that was going to be perfect for today's DIY.

I love the fluttery neck, but this color isn't the best with my skintone.

I couldn't wait to give this top a makeover!

I said this top was getting dyed in a brand new way I've never tried before...I'm ICE DYEING, using powder dye!

I picked my colors and then set up my dye station. Because I've never done this before, I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to stain everything. (**not an overstatement - I'm totally clumsy!)

I lined an old pan with a garbage bag to catch all the water and added a pantry shelf I snagged at the Container Store (Amazon has a bunch of options too!) to keep the top out of the pool of water that'll form after it melts. ❄️

I love the DIY setup! I took the top and wet it completely - this is just typical fare for dyeing. Always saturate your piece with water to make the dye work evenly!

Next came the ice!

I drizzled the powder dye all over the ice next and just waited for the cubes to melt!

Eeeeeeee! It's so close!

 (It actually took longer to melt than I had planned, which might have worked out for the best in regard to color saturation.)

How cool did this turn out?? 

I'm obsessed with ice dyeing and can't wait to test it out again!

The outfit was perfect for low-key dinner when paired with my favorite grey sweater coat and my thrifted Halston boots! I also paired it with this ivory vintage clutch that's currently in the NDAD shop!

The ivory helped make the fall colors pop!

For my first go at ice dyeing, it was a total success! I love the pattern ❤️.
