Week 18: More DIY Gloves!

In working on getting all my gifts done before this weekend and had just a few more to complete.  My knit heart gloves were sewn a week ago... Knit gloves in the corner!

...and I had some other gloves to finish up today, those of the kitchen variety!!

Gloves!!

I scored these two-toned lovelies at the 99 Cent Store, but you can go to your own kitchen for them or any Target or CVS in the area!

I'm going to make two different styles, both super easy.

I began with some sequined trim that I had in my kit.  There was some serious flower power sequin action goin on and I thought it would be a lovely way to line the edges!

Sequined Trim!

I started to pin the flowers to the bottom of the gloves...

Pinned Edges!

and trimmed the ends.  Now these are ready to be sewn down!!

Almost done!

For the other gloves, I went to some excess fabric that I had been holding onto since Week 26.  Refresher of that unitard wonder below..

Yikes!

I took the fun fabric at the wrists and began attaching it to the gloves.  I faced the right side of the fabric against the outside of the glove and pinned the edges down, about 1/2 from the bottom.  I folded the fabric under in a few spots to add some pleats and to make the fabric fit completely around.

Pinned!

I went to the sewing machine and stitched the first pair...

Stitch in time!

...and second pair in place.

Almost complete!

The final product...two pairs of newly blinged out kitchen gloves!!  (I took some of that leftover hot pink spandex and made little bows to add as well!)

Finished product!

I tested a pair out...

Who's excited to wash dishes?!

...I think my mom will be happy with her Christmas present.  If she isn't, she'll let me know once she reads this :)

Kitchen gloves are miracle workers when it comes to not drying out the hands!  My hands are completely sensitivo, and I'd always have to overly moisturize after dish washing when I was without them.  So, to tie into cute hands, there's a fun nail pack to be given away today.  That's right, I'm calling this the 'Get Yo Nails Did' pack inspired by this fabulous Lee Press On Nails commercial from 1985.

Along with a manicure kit full of scissors, files, clippers and nail polish remover, there is a sheer pink Sally Hansen paint pen perfect for French manis, OPI's Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ which is an awesome deep reddish-purple, some cotton pads, two pairs of press on nails (one in leopard print and the other just screaming 1980), and nail glues to affix those talons!
