Week 45: Micki

As soon as I saw this piece... Week 45: Micki - Before

...I thought of one thing.

Michelito Lagravere!

It was straight up something that a toreador would wear!!  I loved the bead work, and it was classic Oleg Cassini (dressed the lovely Jackie O in the 60s) so I was on board of freshening it up a bit!  Micki sent this my way...

"The shoulder pads in this made me feel like a linebacker!"

Let's go get this thing tackled!!! (Yes, football pun...)

What ended up making my decision super easy was the spotting that was going on, on the shoulder.

Spotty Shoulder!

Looked like some water damage of sorts, so I figured I should just remove it all!!

Seam ripper out, it was go time!

Seam ripping sleeves!f

In my seam ripping journey, there was a little treasure that was found in the lining.  Not a secret letter or a hidden jewel, but shoulder pads!!  Not one, but two!!

Hidden beneath!

I removed all four pieces...

The pads!!

...as the sleeves came completely off.

Detached sleeves

I began to repin the edges of the arms to the inner lining...

Sleeveless!!

...and stitched it down when I was through.

Stitchin' up!

From taming bulls and catching footballs, to chic and spangly vest!!  Loved the outcome.

Week 45: Micki - After

I paired it with a Cynthia Vincent grey tank with mesh chain, my comf James jeans and some Steve Madden rhinestone heels I scored at the outlets years ago for less than $20.

The complete ensemble...

The night was cold and rainy so I ended up keeping on my sweater on for most of it - I liked the little peeks of beading that came through as I walked, however I will have to rock it again on another night that brings higher temperatures...

Most of the night's ensemble...

This vest hasn't seen it's last night out :)

Thank you for sending Micki!!  We'll be using those sleeves for something soon...
