Happy Eastah! I grew up in NY and this is usually how it sounds. (I'm saying it right now directly to you. Close your eyes...yep, that's me wishing you a happy holiday with my Long Island accent that only comes out when I'm mad, talking to my NY fam, or wasted.) No Easter bonnet on my head today, but the colors and the flowers will be in full effect, thanks to, wait for it...a muumuu!!!
I mean is a muumuu and Easter not the most perfect team? Especially one that looks like this! The pinks, purples, blues and greens just overflowed with Easter feelings, so this was my pick for the day. I have to say, I loved the pouffy sleeves and the cute square neck. The length was not cutting it. Today I'm going for a little more youthful and a little less Golden Girls. Do not worry though, I have a day where the Golden Girls will be totally channeled on purpose. Just you wait.
Off with about half the length as I wanted this to hit me around my knees.
I pinned the raw edge down and then folded it again before sewing to make a new, clean hem. After that fix, it was ready to go!
As it was a bit chillier today in Southern Cal (I mean mid-60s, so yes, to me it was a bit chilly) I added my boots and a hoodie to make this just the dress to enjoy the day. I'd say it was definitely one of the five key components for why today ruled.
Wanna know the other four? Here we go...
4. DONUT SENT FROM HEAVEN LANDED ON MY PLATE
I can actually say that this maple glazed donut covered in bacon bits from the Nickle Diner in downtown LA is absolutely amazing. Don't fear it - the sweet & savory combo is pretty delectable.
3. HANGING WITH THE FAM TIME
No explanation necessary - the fam just simply rules.
2. OPENING NIGHT FOR MY YANKEES
Even though they lost to the Red Sox, (I know, how could we let Boston win) they're looking good for the season. It was tough saying adios to Johnny Damon, but Mr. Curtis Granderson, welcome to the team!! Looks like I'm going to have to prep a few Yankee themed pieces for the season. Apologies in advance :)
1. THE ENJOYMENT OF THESE PUPPIES AGAIN
I went without what I would describe as the most delicious piece of candy created for mankind for 40 days, and the first thing I did today was enjoy a Cadbury Egg for breakfast. Yes, I must head to El Targe (Target) to pick up a few more boxes before they start to fill the shelves with 4th of July goods as they've only got 4 months to prepare.
I hope everyone's holiday week/weekend was beautiful and filled with love and good food :) I gave up Taco Bell as well (I know, it's my fast food TOTAL guilty pleasure) but didn't add that onto today's menu. We'll save that for later in the week.
