Thursday Giveaway

Mar 7, 2013 | 59 Comments

Happy Thursday!!  I hope everyone’s week has been going well.  I’m still in hot tea mode and have been taking Zyrtec D on the reg to assist with all my allergies, so I’m looking forward to the weekend that is just so close, you could touch it!!

To bring on the spring weekend a little early (it’s daylight savings on Sunday, y’all!!) I’m giving away a favorite combo – a hand cut Primal Elements floral soap and a fab wristlet by Loop NYC covered in sequined flowers!  I’d totally let that dangle from my wrist!

New Dress A Day - Giveaway - DIY - Vintage

Win Me!

To enter, leave a comment below of whether you’re pro or against losing an hour this weekend because of daylight savings.  I love that it gets lighter earlier – just makes me get super excited for summer!  A winner will randomly get chosen next Wednesday, 3/13!

  • Beka

I’m only against it that first morning I have to get out of my bed earlier! After that I’m pro. If we didn’t put the clocks back, I wouldn’t get to enjoy the chilled out spring mornings before I got to uni, or the long light evenings that seem to go on forever. So we don’t really loose an hour, we just get to enjoy more daylight!

  • MelodyJ

I’m against the extended daylight savings time . A few years ago they extended daylight savings time to save energy but it doesn’t. Yes you get extra daylight in the summer but it’s still winter so what’s the point of doing it now. Plus it’s an unnatural schedule. People have had problems adjusting to it. They should have left it the way it was wait until it’s truly spring to start it.

  • Sue

I only hate it because it messes up my already messed up sleep schedule. You wouldn’t think one hour could make such a difference, but for me it does.

Summer is sounding really nice right now. :)

  • haley

pro, all the way. i walk to school, so which starts at 7:30 am – being able to see more a a definite plus

  • Kate G

I don’t have a strong opinion about it. But yesterday I was up and walking the dog at 6 instead of 7 as usual, and it was beautiful outside with the birds singing. Realizing that that would be the normal for morning walks starting next week was pretty sweet. So I suppose I’m in favor!

  • Maria

if it means its spring, i am all for it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/myndie Myndie Turner

If it means spring is just around the corner then bring it on! This Minnesotan is a bit tired of the snow.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=41603120 Emily Haager

    Against! Less time to sew!

  • Emily

I get the whole idea behind it, but with little kids it takes them 2 weeks to adjust and they can just be cranky and tired. It is hard.

  • Emma J

I am definitely against. Usually it is ok, but I am super busy this weekend House Managing a play and would LOVE that extra hour of sleep.

  • Boo

I’m against anything that gives me an hour less sleep.

  • LeighZ

Whoever invented daylight savings time must not have had children!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/val.satula Val Satula

I like getting an hour back so much more!

  • Samantha

I am sadly neutral. That may change later, though.

  • JasminePT

Pro: More light in the morning! It sucks trying to wake up in the dark.

  • Taras88

I’m pro! I love it still being daytime when I get home from work. I become much more productive :)

  • Jaclyn

Time changes are NEVER fun with three very small children. But at least it’s happening during our March Break this year so my husband the teacher will be home to help mellow out the madness! :)

  • A. Garcia

I love more light in the morning! It’s nice to be able to run in the not-pitch black.

  • Elizabeth H

The first day I’m all against it, but after that I love day lights savings time. I love having more sun at the end of the day so it’s not always dark by the time I leave work. And that means more daylight for doing things later in the day, yay!

  • Amanda Davis

I’m torn on daylight savings time – SO READY for spring to be here, I’m so tired of drab dreary freezing winter!!!! but I also like to sleep, lol….

  • kathy

    I am ready for summer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=841123904 Amber Castelli

I am glad I am in Arizona and the time doesnt change :)

  • Annie

I am very against losing ANY sleep, at ANY time. :) But especially this weekend, because I will be having very late nights Friday and Saturday already.

  • cupcake detroit

against! only because i have too many things to do this weekend and could use every spare second!!

  • Nori Sciambi

I’m all for it! I love having more daylight.

  • phowell13

I’m against losing an hour. How about they fall back 23 hours. So we have almost an extra day on that weekend! That I would support.

  • Megan Durant

I don’t really care either way. But glad summer’s on the way. :)

  • Dede

I used to hate it with a passion! I am a total fall/winter person. I have been learning to love spring over the last couple of years, so I guess I now have the attitude of trying to make the best of things when it comes to daylight savings :)

  • Laura E.

I seem to have a hard time adjusting, but once I do, I like it. I just like having more light that comes with Spring and Summer. It gives me hope for good weather to come.

  • sheryl k

YAY for daylight savings!!!!!! Up here in New England that extra hour of daylight is a huge occasion. love the bag!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1775052277 Sheila Penney

I have a little bit f a hard time adjusting at first…but LOVE the extra hour of light. It does wonders for my spirit and mood.

  • Maggie

I am bummed about losing an hour but way more excited for more daylight and for spring to be right around the corner!

  • Musheera

I love havng more sun during the day :)

  • Rebekah

Definitely against….because I have kids and to change their schedules all the time is cruel!

  • LindaJ

I’m for that extra light at the end of the day. I think AZ has the right idea by NOT changing back and forth.

  • Allison

You just made me sad! I didn’t realize it was daylight savings this weekend. I’m totally against it this weekend because I’m heading down to Nashville to hang out with some friends! Now I get one less hour with them! Boo!!

I do love that wristlet though!

  • Jenn61

love day light savings time. tired of the dark up here in the pacific northwest

  • Judy B

I’m only for it that one day a year when I get an extra hour of sleep. ;-)

And there’s bad news for Marisa and others who said they’re looking forward to more light in the morning: it’s the other way around. The sun will now be coming up an hour LATER. Think about it: if the sun is coming up at, say, 6:00 now, after we ‘spring forward’ it will be coming up at 7:00. In the summer we get more light at the END of the day–which gets to be a pain if you live up north (as I do) and it’s still light until almost 10:00 in the middle of the summer. Insomnia time! (The worst is being a kid on the 4th of July and waiting FOREVER for it to get dark enough for the fireworks to start.)

    • Judy B

No, wait, there’s one thing worse: dozing off after work, waking up and seeing that it’s 9:00 and broad daylight and OH MY GOD I OVERSLEPT I AM SO LATE FOR WORK HOW DID TH IS HAPPEN and totally panicking before realizing that it’s 9:00 p.m. not a.m. and now you’re totally disoriented in addition to having a jolt of adrenalin . . . .

Happens to me about once every summer. I believe it takes at least a year off my life each time.

  • Tara L

I’m pro-Spring forward. I love it being lighter earlier!

  • Laura Whitman

I totally for losing an hour! Whatever, it happens. (Also, it helps that it hits on spring break – teehee), but I would lose at least 5 hours of sleep if it meant that it will stay lighter later!

    xoxo,
    Laura

  • vickie

I against the time change, since I hate having to change all the clocks in my house every 6 months!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/rebecca.e.sheets Rebecca Elaine Sheets

I’m against losing an hour. I like the extra hour to sleep. :o )

  • Btejkl

Aack I hate the time change. Seems the older I get, the harder it is for me to adjust.

  • Elizzz

the loss of sleep always gets me :(

  • rwvanvoorhis

excited! love that it will be light out when i get home from work!
    rwvanvoorhis at gmail dot com

  • WendyP

It’s not that big of a deal. I don’t think we have any clocks in our house that we have to set ourselves – they’re all computer-of-one-sort-or-another clocks that set themselves, and we sleep in on Sundays, so no big deal on the “lost” hour.

  • Kelsey

I gain an hour because I’m flying from the East coast to the West! Hooray!

Also -I had the tote bag that matches that wristlet when I was in high school!!! I always got compliments on it!!! I’m sure whoever wins it will be very happy.

  • Tassie

Don’t like the time change…. love the long evenings with the light… hate the time change… messes with my internal clock!!! hahaha

  • Julie B.

I am totally for it if it means spring is finally coming. This has been a long winter!

  • Wishbonesx

I’m not always a morning person so I love all the time I can get getting my sleep ….. But will just have to live with it…

  • http://www.facebook.com/megan.conley.140 Megan Conley

I do not mind the time change,it seems to signify the arrival of spring weather officially:)

  • http://www.facebook.com/elisanta.hiraldo Elisanta Hiraldo

If it means FINALLY getting to be warm again, i would gladly give up an hour of sleep. I miss the sun :)

  • Brittney

I don’t really like either time change. I try to go to sleep earlier in spring, but I always end up staying awake even later than normal. I jinx myself by thinking about how I really need to get to sleep. Then in the fall, I stay up later because I know I have that extra hour, which means I don’t get an extra hour; I just get my normal.

  • angelica

I actually don’t mind it. :) I didm’t like driving home when it’s dark and feeling like I wasted a whole day working. ^_^
    Lovelyyy clutch.

  • Maria B

I really like daylight savings time cause it means that summer is right around the corner and I definitely like that!! Also I enjoy getting off work at 7 and having some daylight still!!!

  • laura

ulg I hate daylight saving for so may reasons.

  • http://www.facebook.com/elisabeth.good1 Elisabeth Good

I’m not gonna lie, I was not a fan of the time change this weekend.

  • Emily

Against, because blah! No one wants to loose sleep! But also for, because I looooove when it stays lighter longer!
