Aparna’s NDAD Creation

Today’s piece comes in from Miss Aparna!!

Hi Marisa!  Hello all the way from India.  I have been following your blog for a while and I must admit that I totally adore your refashions!  It is amazing how a nip and a stitch can transform an outfit.  This is a dress that my cousin had picked for me, so I am not sure how much she spent.

Aparna – Before

It was too short and the top was too low, but I loved the knit material and the color though.

Hmm, where is Aparna going to go with this??

I chopped the top off and hemmed it.

Hem!!

I then utilized the fabric from chopped portion to make rosettes to add a little something to my skirt!

Rosettes!

A rather simple refashion and it was loads of fun to create!

Aparna – After

Keep refashioning and take care!

Aparna, you’re rocking that new skirt now like a boss!  I love how you took this dress from being too short and too low cut and turning it into a gorge new skirt!  Keep these pieces coming!  See more from Aparna, here!

I can easily relate to this post. I’m a relatively tall person (5’8 1/2″) with long legs and a J-Lo butt, so I often run into a problem with modern dresses being way too short on me. If I really like something about the dress (like the fabric or print), I buy it and either upcycle it into a tunic top or a skirt.

Aparna could have just kept it simple with the skirt, but I really like how she jazzed it up by adding the rosettes. It’s a very simple tweak, but it’s makes a difference in how the skirt looks. Well done!

Well, I’m a short person with short legs and a Buddha belly–and I completely agree with you! I too was thinking maybe a tunic (with a cami or something underneath to deal with the ‘too low’ issue) or skirt. Also agree about the rosettes being a very nice touch.
