DIY: Knit Gloves

Today is a little DIY day featuring those one size fits all knit gloves!!  I love these guys – I’ve cut the fingertips off on a few pairs to make them totally typing-friendly too!

So, I’ve started with an ivory pair…

My ivory gloves!

…and am going to zhuzh these up a bit!!

I was inspired by the idea of making these Nutcracker/toy soldier/Buckingham Palace appropriate, so I started with some chain and jump rings and connected each end of the chain to a jump ring..

Once my chain was prepped, I picked out matching golden buttons to affix the jump rings to, and then used my jewelry pliers to close the space that was made to connect everything together.

Button to chain attachment

With my buttons and chain connected, I began my hand sewing!  I took matching ivory thread, tied a knot at the end. and pushed my needle through from the underside…

Stitch Time!

…through the button.  I did this a few times to make sure my button was secure.  Once one button was down, I went to the next one.

Stitch down one button then the other!

My buttons are placed!!

Buttons & Chain!!

After looking at my finished product, I decided that because the gloves were so little, one button/chain pair for each was enough.  I made a little adjustment after one was done.

Now I was in love with the new accessorized gloves, but someone else thought so too…

Marie approves!

…so I gifted them to her!

These were completed for an episode of Marie Osmond’s show that I shot yesterday, all about accessories!  I’ll roll out the pieces I did little by little until the episode airs!!

        • newdressaday

Ha, yes, however the whole segment was done from behind this bar, so you won’t see it.

  • Meagyn

Those are such cute gloves, I love the buttons and the Buckingham palace style of them. This definetly gives me some ideas for the white gloves I have in my coat pockets.
