Tina’s NDAD Creation

I loved Tina’s piece that she crafted from a shirt, mostly because I’ve been cold and craving some of what she made!!

Marisa, I finally found something worth submitting. I found this little girls shirt at a local thrift store for 25 cents and loooved, did I say loved the design. It is kind of a psychedelic zebra print.  I did not have anyone to model it so here it is…

New Dress A Day - DIY - Vintage Shirt - Tina Before

Tina – Before

Zebra print, woo!!  Time to see what she makes :)

First off, I cut it into a few pieces because I’m making arm warmers and a neck warmer!!

New Dress A Day - DIY - Vintage Shirt - All Cut

It’s like Frankenstein!!!!!

For the arm warmers, I cut a hole out of the seam for my thumb and hand sewed around the hole and the seam to prevent running and for the neck warmer, I only had to hand sew one side since the other side was the bottom of the shirt!

And voila…me in my fab new accessories.

Finished Warmers!!

Now I just have to think of something out of the top part.

I have been keeping up with your daily designs!!  Girl you have it going on and I am so very glad you have allowed us to go along for the ride.  Take Care, Tina

Tina, I love this!!  I can’t wait to see what you do with the remnants.  The psychedelic-y, zebra-esque print is fabulous.  What fun pieces to warm up with!!

How clever! I never would have thought of using the arms for arm-warmers – especially making the thumb hole from the seam!

Fantastic idea- I’m totally stealing this. My daughter gets so sad when she outgrows her favorite clothes- I can’t wait to show her how she can refashion them!

  • Diana

This is a very cool idea. DD can start making some of her old things into something fashionable right away!

Great idea! I’ve been thinking of hand warmers and scarves lately because my office is so cold.

  • Kayla @ TheEclecticElement

What an absolutely great idea! I’m inspired by all these stories to go out and try my hand at upcycling something myself ^.^

How about a head band with the leftovers and cover buttons with the fabric for earrings?

Smart! The last bit could make a cute purse . . . .

The trend today is arm warmers. Be proud that you made them yourself because it’s not like anyone will have those exact pair.

Me thinks I may have to copy this one. I have been so chilly lately. I have some shirts I was going to use for a rag rug. May have to rescue them from that pile and repurpose like this Thanks Tina.

Great idea. You could make a cup warmer out of some of the left over fabric. CarolK

I love love love it!!! It gave me an idea of what to do with my ugly Christmas sweater I have in the closet that I rarely wear… I am going to take it apart and make me some holiday arm warmers and a holiday neck warmer, and holiday hat to out of the top part, or head band… finely that sweater will get some use!!!

The arm warmers idea is great! One of those thing that is so simple, but I never would have thought of it. I’m thinking now for sure. My hands are always cold in the winter (It was 80 today in Dallas, but winter is coming. I know it is.) Thank you Tina!!
