Erica Louise’s NDAD Creation

Nov 18, 2012 | 30 Comments

Hey friends!  I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!  I spent the day road-tripping back from Phoenix after an amazing weekend, meeting lots of readers, scouring some Goodwill racks, and catching up with college friends!  Full rundown comes this week!

This piece was sent my way by Erica Louise!  Since the weather has been all over the place on the West Coast and in chill mode on the East Coast, this garment is one that we can all make and use right now!

I purchased a second-hand tweed skirt from an op shop for $8…

Erica Louise – Before

It’s refashion time!!

Unfortunately I didn’t have enough tweed fabric to complete an entire cape (oh no!), so I had to use a contrasting fabric for the back of it!

Erica Louise – After

To complete the look, I used a thrifty brooch I purchased for a dollar.

Brooch Accent!!

I mean, how chic does Erica Louise look???

I LOVE this Erica Louise!!  I’m totally going to try my hand at this with an old, vintage, wool skirt in my collection.  Such a perfect way to reuse a piece from your closet in a brand new way!!  Looking forward to the next piece EL!!

From a skirt to a cape? You guys have a great imagination and it totally works! I like it.

Very nice, and the contrast front and back is in fashion right now. Really great look!

I love the dual fabric – blessing in disguise that there wasn’t enough tweed :)

Next time, look for a maxi skirt.. it would give tons of fabric.. good job. Love the colors!

I did that for my daughters Halloween costume!! The extra I cut off the bottom of he skirt I made into a cape! I never thought of doing it “for real”, but now I just might have too! Great job!!

I’m so torn – I actually liked the skirt (and have been looking for one like it), but I love the cape! Either way, great job – the cape is outstanding.

Skirt to cape–once again I am amazed at how creative people can be.

:-) – should have spent $ 16 for two ?! (if it only would work whilst at times even willing to do so – mho)

I might look for a plus size skirt for this project. I have some nice shawl pins that would look good with this.
