Off to the East Coast!

Nov 4, 2012 | 13 Comments

Hey friends!   I’ve been prepping for my East Coast trip and can’t wait to set foot in NY later today and Boston on Thursday!  I’m trying to pack, and well it’s taking me a little longer than planned…

New Dress A Day - DIY - Suitcase full of vintage goodies!

My Suitcase!

I’ll tweet and instagram some pics from the airport, but will have a post ready to go once I’m in town.  There’s a bunch of fun things on the horizon this week, one being a little stop at Martha Stewart’s Sirius “Morning Living” radio show from 9:30-9:45 am Monday morning!

I hope all my East Coasters fared well this weekend – a few of my friends just got power back up today – so , I’m squeezing in all the warmth I can in my suitcase to share with you guys :)

NY/NJ/LI-ers, Wednesday night (11/7) I’ll be at the UWS location of Make Meaning (329 Columbus Avenue – between 75th & 76th St.) for a little gathering from 6:30-8:30 pm, if you’re up for some book chatter and sweet treats!  Everything was planned pre-hurricane so the timing is tricky, but if you can make it, I’d really love to see you there. I’ve got the drinks and treats and hugs covered :)

Book Launch - NY - New Dress A Day

NY Book Launch!

Boston/MA-ers, I’ll be hanging out on Saturday night (11/10) with Shoestring Magazine and DIY Boston at 40 Berkeley (40 Berkeley) for a little photo booth/DIY demo/book signing/vintage consultation from 6-9pm!

I’ll be sending out a few more reminders, because I’m really excited to get to meet you guys in the flesh!

For the rest of the signing schedule (Phoenix, SF, Charlotte), check here - http://www.newdressaday.com/2012/10/29/book-signing-events/ San Diego is coming soon too (should be 12/4) but firm plans will be released this week!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!  Check in for Facebook/Twitter/Instagram updates!

Hi Marisa! Here’s a tip I learned for going on NY television and other public appearances… Don’t wear the clothes you plan to wear on TV or in studio on the streets of NYC. It’s sloppy out there, especially after Sandy. Carry them in a clothes bag, and wear rain boots and casual clothes on the street. Someone told me this tip before a TV appearance, and I tried it. Sure enough, a cab drove by and splashed me with dirty water, but it was fine because I wasn’t wearing my TV suit or good shoes. A Californian might not know this (although you may have already learned)… You can alert the producers ahead of time, and they’ll give you a place to change. They *all* know about this.

You got it! Totally bringing a bag of stuff with me and wearing my sneaks and jeans to studio!! Dirty puddles are no fun when they’re splashed all over you! xo

  • a dissapointed fan

Hi Marissa, I’m so dissapointed I can’t make it to the NY appearance, I have class that night! I wish you could squeeze in another night, lol… Safe travels and I look forward to pics and postings on your site… xx00

What bright west coast colors I see in your bag. Is NY ready for all that print? As a Florida girl I say brighten them up. Safe travels.

Jeepers, I wish I could convince Hubby to have a night home with the kiddos so I could drive the 2 1/2 hours down from NH to see you in Boston! Maybe I’ll bake him some cupcakes or some other tasty treat when I ask… :D

    • newdressaday

Tell him I’ll buy him beer and give it to you to bring back for him as extra incentive :)
