I loved Tina’s piece that she crafted from a shirt, mostly because I’ve been cold and craving some of what she made!!
Marisa, I finally found something worth submitting. I found this little girls shirt at a local thrift store for 25 cents and loooved, did I say loved the design. It is kind of a psychedelic zebra print. I did not have anyone to model it so here it is…
Zebra print, woo!! Time to see what she makes
Happy rainy Friday from LA!! It’s been such a treat getting this fall-ish weather, however my allergies/weird congestion has been keeping me drinking tea and taking lots of vitamins. I’ve been sewing and prepping outfits for this weekend’s Unique LA event, (as well as outfits for next week’s SD craft/signing night & SF afternoon soiree - click to RSVP)…
where I’ll be running the DIY Den making ribbon headbands (as well as having books on hand to sign)!! I’ll do a tutorial next week for everyone here on the site – they’re awesome for gifts for the gals!
I’m excited to be a part of this because it’s the biggest independent design show in the country with over 350 artists/designers selling their handmade wares. Handmade gifts for the holidays for everyone! For those SoCal-ers in town this weekend and wanting to beat the rain, totally head downtown to the Cal Mart. It’s $10 to enter, but you get a tote bag and a portion of the proceeds benefits the non-profit, Inner-City Arts. The DIY is free (!!) and there are tons of sponsored bevvies, a photo booth to take pics in, on top of the awesome tables of goodies being sold.
New outfits posts from the weekend will be posted next week!
What’s on everyone’s weekend after Thanksgiving agenda??
I’ve been getting my crafty on making a slew of fun mustache pins and key chains out of felt to celebrate Movember!!
I made them in traditional hair colors – sorry no blue – and there’s an array of styles from the fu manchu (which is pretty rad) to the walrus style, to these guys…

I’m thrilled to be doing events at these locations as they’re both owned and operated by amazing gals!! It’s really awesome to support these fab ladies who have curated their shops with amazing outfits/accessories and caffeinated beverages. I can’t wait to see you CA folks next week!! (PS, Charlotte, NC is my final 2012 stop on 12/16!)
So this piece was beyond calling my name. I think anything red calls my name louder than before because these red pieces feel like they get me because of my matching hair, you know. Like this piece. It GOT me.
There is a fab, tiny, white polka-dotted print that I quite thoroughly enjoyed as well. After having this piece on for a bit, I think I was having too much fun with the waist straps…
So much so, that I don’t think I’ll be getting rid of them like I thought!
