Red Head Costume Week: Chucky – Child’s Play
I’m a horror movie addict, so with my new hair, I just couldn’t resist a little Child’s Play action. There’s nothing better than the all the scary movie marathons that go on all month. A little Friday the 13th mixed with some Turner Classics for good measure (The Body Snatchers!) makes me a happy camper. Oh, but obviously not one at Camp Crystal Lake
It was fun to make a creepier costume today, and all my costume components came from Goodwill!
I found a striped shirt with all primary colors which was the key element to getting this outfit complete! I stitched it up to make it more fitted and then paired it with these guys…
Hello overalls! Want to see how the whole costume came together??
Tune in Tuesday!!
I hope all of my East Coast friends out there are cooped up at home, staying warm and cozy, but most of all safe, as the storm comes through. That Sandy is one feisty broad! I’m sending lots of dry thoughts and prayers your way!!
For those of you with electricity…two fun shows I shot are airing today, so tune in or set your Tivo’s for a double dose of Marisa!!
First, I was part of a fabulously awesome vintage-themed show for Ricki Lake!! Dita Von Teese, Beverly Johnson, Cameron Silver (owner of the fab LA boutique Decades) and the charming Apple Sisters were all a part of the fun!

Check out the teaser…
Also I’ll be on After Ricki, a fun behind the scenes Ustream webisode that airs live 8:30 pm EST/5:30 pm PST – tune in here (http://therickilakeshow.com/afterricki) for more vintage chatter!!
Second, I shot a super fun episode with the lovely Marie Osmond on her Hallmark Channel show where we redid celebrity outfits on a thrift store budget. Cameron Diaz & Emma Stone, we got you!! Love me some copycats! (Click here to find out showtimes - http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/ChannelLocator/Default.aspx)
I’ll get these posted on YouTube asap for those wanting to view from the comforts of their computers or for those still working with candlelight.
Thanks for all the awesome book feedback and costume comments I’ve been getting this week! Stay tuned for another fun costume a little later today!!

Red Head Costume Week: Lois Griffin – Family Guy
Today’s costume really just couldn’t be easier to put together! Everything came from my closet…
…and with the new red hair, all I needed to add were red lips to complete my transformation into my fave animated mom…Lois Griffin from Family Guy!
Suchi’s NDAD Creation – Halloween Edition!
More costumes today!! This one was submitted by Suchi and I’m pretty much wishing I had this costume put together for the week!
Hi Marisa - I hadn’t planned to send this to you, so there are no good “before” shots, but I truly believe that following your blog has given me the confidence to try things I never would have!! I made this costume for my daughter Eva. She is in love with the concept of long, flowing cloaks (have you ever watched the BBC series Merlin?), and after watching Lord of the Rings this summer she decided to model her costume after the elven character Arwen.
Here’s the before shot!
Let’s see how the rest of the costume turns out!
