85 Days to Go: Friday Giveaway
My time in the South has been such fun – lots of family to visit, BBQ to eat, and vintage wares to find! I scored some goodies at the Goodwill outlet and let’s just say took advantage of their pay-by-the-pound system and scored some super fab clutches in addition to some more formal pieces!!
Because I was so lucky with my clutch finds, I figured a giveaway would be in order. Just want to share the thrifty love!! Today, I’m giving away this lovely black satin-y clutch (it’s also in the pic above!) with something else super fantastic…a pattern from my mom’s collection!! It was the one that I couldn’t stop giggling over. “Show-Me! Patterns” in their Reversible Vest variety?!?!? I know you want it!!
To enter, leave a comment below with something you remember loving/wearing/needing to have that you would totally take back now if you could. I remember ‘needing’ a Hypercolor T-shirt when I was a kid and when I finally got one (after the initial hoopla wore down) it didn’t change color!! A winner for this (as well as last week’s earrings) will be picked early next week! Can’t wait to hear all these gems.
Happy Friday!
86 Days to Go: $1 Remake
Another remake from the Carolinas!!
PS, apologies for the tragicness going on on my head right now. Quick pre-shoot barrette move, not so good.
Pink jacket time!!
I got it mostly because of the Carmen Marc Valvo tag.
For a buck I just couldn’t resist. It fit me well, but it wasn’t something I’d actually choose to wear. It needed some punch, so that’s what I gave it. To the moon, Alice!!

We’re back in sewing business!! I got my hands on a machine and I finally got to fix the below dress today!!
It was big on me, so first plan of business was to take it in! I started with the body of the piece…
…pinned the arms and torso then headed to the waist.
The waist was elastic, so I tested it out (stretched it) when trying it on to pin in just the right spot. Time to sew!!

I felt it fitting to shoot this week’s outfits in front of my parents house that sits the old bench I used to pose in front of. The memories of that lovely bench, le sigh. Unforch I decided to flare the dress right in front of it, but you’ll see it more over the next few days!
I LOVED this print – felt like a pattern on blue & white porcelain!
Before I got to sewing, I decided to peruse my mom’s old sewing/crafting goodies in the garage and found some winners. (You just might see a few of these goodies up for grabs this week!) I cannot wait to use that eyelet tool!
I found her machine…
…and began to get my piece ready. There just happened to be a small snafu. It wasn’t working!! My mom turned it on and tested it for me before I arrived and it lit up, wheel was fine, however once it was sew time, it just wasn’t agreeing.
I’m getting my hands on another one tomorrow, so this piece will finally get turned around. Alas dinner with Aunt L and Uncle C was not meant to be had in this dress.
On route to a dinner of BBQ (when in the south…) we had a flash flood of sorts!!
It was such a treat because it’s been a while since seeing big droplets like these – there was some light drops in LA last week, but they were more like restaurant misters, lightly grazing the cars and concrete. This was legit rain!
We got to the restaurant where I devoured a pulled pork sandwich and took down one of my dad’s ribs.
I wasn’t a rib girl until I tasted true rib glory at Smitty’s in Lockhart, TX this past year. Those were the best ribs I had ever tasted and these ones in Indian Land, SC came in a close second.
I’m currently in a food coma, so tomorrow will be fun to get back on the sewing wagon!!

It’s summer!! I’m loving the bold colors, so this dress needed to come home with me. It’s bright yellow and has white stripes…total perfection!
Well perfection, aside from a few things…
Also, there were some issues of the hole varietal!
I’m not really loving the looseness up top either. I couldn’t even try this on without a tank!
It’s time to make this summer worthy! Let’s tend to the tweaking!! (Say that three times fast!!)
