97 Days to Go: Christie’s NDAD Creation

Jul 14, 2012 | 8 Comments

Today’s remake comes from Christie in Austin, TX.  I love this piece because it’s something that many people can use nowadays…a cover for their e-reader!!

Hi Marisa – I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog and been inspired to create several new pieces and revamp some of my old stuff.  I thought this one was worth sharing with you!  I took the arm rest cover of my favorite gold vintage chair (hand-me-down from my grandma, who, incidentally, also gave me my sewing machine)…

Christie - Before

I’m in love with this fabric!!  I have a vintage green chair that’s the same velvety fabric however, mine is without an arm rest cover otherwise you’d see me rockin’ a velvet clutch by now!!

I took a little fabric from some old curtains and a button from an old coat…

Chic interior!

…and made the cutest carrying case for my Kindle.  It’s so adorable, I might just use it as a clutch too.  I love how cozy my Kindle is in this thing AND I love that it’s made of all upcycled material.

    Great idea!
You can add a piece of an old blanket or fleece throw between the layers to add some cushion for the kindle!

  • Natchez

I love anything kindle and this is very clever!

  • Tami

Very cute and creative!  (What about other ereaders?  I’m not sure if I’m allowed to mention them by name, but they are also cozy when you are in a corner, or reading nook…)
