80 Days to Go: Book Update!
So, the time has finally come!! I get to share with you guys a little piece of what I’ve been working on so hard since last year! The cover to my book!!
I’m so very proud to say that New Dress A Day: The Ultimate DIY Guide to Creating Fashion Dos from Thrift-Store Don’ts will be hitting shelves and the internets on October 16th, which happens to be the day after my birthday. It’s crazy because it’s already up on Amazon, which, I’m not going to lie, brought some tears to my eyes.
It still really hasn’t hit me yet, but as the clock continues to count down (80 Days to Go!!), the tingles are getting stronger and stronger! Fun things to come as the release gets closer, but I just couldn’t wait to share this with you guys!
Thank you for all the support you’ve given me so far – the emails, comments, tweets, Facebook messages – I just couldn’t be happier with the love you guys have given me on this little journey
xo Marisa
81 Days to Go: Olympic Necklace
So, I’m totally an Olympic addict.
I absolutely love the Olympics and get so excited every two years because I get sucked into the competitions…all the competitions! Over the weekend I was enamored by the handball and archery games, and have been watching the fencing matches as well, on top of the popular prime time swimming, gymnastics, and volleyball competitions.
After seeing those rings on screen all the time, they’ve been lasered into my head (along with the theme song – I’ll spare y’all the clip…I can’t stop singing it after every commercial break!) and I came up with a fun project to show my Olympic spirit!
It’s necklace time!! I began with five key rings…
…and created the formation, attaching the rings to each other.
Time to get these bad boys in their right shades!
82 Days to Go: Copycat – ASOS
I fell in love with this ASOS dress when I first saw it featured in a Teen Vogue spread. I was totally into the colors…
…but I think I was even more into the texture of the piece with what looked like a tie dye of sorts. I had the perfect piece to use for this DIY…
…a dress that was shot for the book but didn’t end up getting used!
There were lots of these discolorations on the piece…
…so it really was the perfect candidate to try this ASOS lookalike out!
83 Days to Go: Stacy R
I’ve been playing with some color mixing/painting/dyeing and when I saw Stacy’s piece, it fit right in with all my work-in-progresses
You’ll soon see them here, promise!
Hi Marisa,
I have been a huge fan of your blog for a while now and I have been inspired to do a few of my own remakes (with the help of my best friend Jen who makes fashion accessories, purses, etc. – and who taught me to sew last year). This piece was adventurous…
Wonder what she’ll do? I’m loving the sleeves
84 Days to Go: Amelie’s NDAD Creation
The featured piece for today comes from Amelie!! Such a pretty name from one of my favorite movies!
Hi! I just wanted to say that I really like your blog, and you’ve inspired me to start modifying clothing too. I ended up buying a somewhat ho-hum paisley sundress for $4.99 at the Salvation Army.
The print on this long dress was a little too much for me…
…and the cut was definitely not flattering. The skirt was torn, and there was also a little tear near the bottom of the zipper in the back, so I decided to make this into a shirt!
