112 Days to Go: Pam’s NDAD Creation
I’m always down for animal print (I have a fun piece coming up soon too!) so when I saw Pam’s creation I said Rawrrrrrr
You inspired me to start sewing for myself again and with a creative urge to vent, I went to a yearly thrift bag sale ($10 per bag) and filled it with possibilities. This Johanna York dress I thought would be a good top, although I don’t normally do animal prints.
I’m glad you went with it Pam! Let’s see how she tweaked this!
113 Days to Go: Copycat – J Crew
Today’s J Crew copycat post was another part of my day o’crafting that I had with Sonya Nimri! After tackling some neon jewelry, we went the shoe route!
We came across these amazing oxfords in the J. Crew catalog created by Creatures of the Wind and immediately knew we wanted to try our hand at them!
We started with these lovely thrifted kicks! They’re super cute as is, however there were some scuffs and just normal wear n’tear on the outside of them making them perfect to work with.
The J Crew shoes are oxfords, but we’re taking the essence of those flats and transferring them over to these heels! Time to get paintin’ and gluin’ and glitterin’!

Yeah, we don’t even need to discuss! Let’s get on it!
115 Days to Go: Wednesday Giveaway!!
Happy Hump Day and Happy A-Week-Away-From-The-4th-Of-July too!! PS, how is July almost here already??
I love these Wednesday giveaways – a little mid-week gifting is always a good thing! Last week’s winner was Rowdycat2222 and I must say that the commentary on late night cravings was amazing – you guys are foodie geniuses and I think I’d be fast friends with the sharp cheddar cheese lovers (ie. Elizabeth Y), the wine/chocolate combo lovers (ie. Rtakei), and salted caramel macadamia clusters (ie. Tara Kos) as I take a bite of peanut butter as we speak.
Today’s goodies are metallic and glammy! We’re getting ready for fireworks next week, so let’s kick off the holiday with some shimmer!
A pair of beaded gold gilded earrings and a dual chain silver/gold costume necklace I found on my shopping travels!!
So little segue via the shimmer note, to enter leave a comment below discussing your skin routine for glowing skin/well moisturized skin/beat the dryness skin/etc. skin…a winner will be randomly chosen on 7/3!
I’ve been noticing my skin has been a bit dry as of late, so I’m trying and testing out new regiments. I’m drinking lots more water now (I was a bad girl under-drinking the H2O – yes, I just made up under-drinking), and trying out some new moisturizers. I have a few Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer samples I’ve been using along with Chamomile Oil by Sundari by my eyes. Can’t wait to hear your picks which may ultimately become my new picks! Thank you in advance my beautiful friends

So the photo that I had pulled from this dress that I’ve had hanging on my rack for months ended up not being correct. Of course – I saw ruffles and a floral pattern and thought I had it when in fact I never shot the piece! Party foul, Maris!
To give you a complete idea of what this piece looked like before, I found two PERFECT dresses that would most definitely work for a ‘If They Mated’ segment a la Conan O’Brien. (Here’s a vintage clip…)
The dress basically looked like this except it was knee length and cotton. There was sheer lace in a V shape, cascading ruffles with lace trim, and more ruffles at the bottom of the piece with lace trim. Pretty much this in a nutshell…
…with a floral pattern like below.
Basically a shortened version of #1 with the pattern of #2. Got it? Feel prepared? Let’s finish it up!
