It’s clear, making it awesome to actually see your sunscreen, sunnies or phone instead of just grabbing away like the dickens.  That’s pretty much me all the time – too big bag, rustling my hand around, sometimes getting stabbed with rogue safety pins… Plus, because it’s plastic, a little bit of ocean mist or pool water won’t get your goods wet.

    My Kate Spade sunglasses! I’m from Seattle, so any time there’s even the tiniest bit of sunlight, my eyes cringe and threaten to stop working if I don’t wear sunglasses. Yes, even on cloudy days. Yet, my DNA decides to make this hard for me because not all glasses fit/look decent on my very, very round face. If I lose this pair, I will die of despair. (forgive the rhyme)

    A soft cotton blanket, since I find them oh-so-much better than lying on a towel! A trashy romance novel, a big bottle of water, and some crunchy bikkies or lollies. And, of course, my sunscreen, rashie, sunnies and a scarf if it gets too windy. My favourite local beach has a bit of a lagoon-like spot with shallow water you can sit in and not get your book wet! Wow, I wish it weren’t officially winter here in Oz tomorrow!

    I want that!!  When I go to the beach I take baby powder with me… sprinkle some on a sandy part of the body and it wipes away like a dream… no need to find one of those horrible shower things that always has a woman bathing her crying child before the ride home!

    Great color on the bag!  I have to have the obvious sunscreen, hat and sunglasses, but I throw in a can of cat or dog food, because there is always a stray that finds me- wherever I go!!!!

    Since I don’t live near a beach or in a super sunny place at all, my skin is sensitive to the elements. So on the annual trip to San Clemente to visit my Baba, I pack Neutrogena Strom block SPF 80 (still get tan believe it or not), water, the loudest beach towel I can find, floppy hat, picnic, and the most important piece is a Frisbee to throw with my husband. I love the beach!

    I am super white and burn easily, so my must have would be a high SPF good sunscreen and of course a bikini – I have to go in the water. A good book and a kanga (like a towel, but lighter) are good for a day at the beach too.

    A HAT!!!  I made the mistake of going to the pool without a hat yesterday and I had to put a towell over my head to block the sun from my eyes above… a hat makes such a difference.

    My must-have beach item (for my crisp-in-moments skin) is Ocean Potion sunscreen because it smells like orange Dreamsicles. I’m not a fan of coconut. I also love to have a big umbrella, super-dark sunglasses, and my camera to catch the seagulls in action.

    Ahhhhh the beach, my happy place!  Usually I grab whatever biggest bag is around, throw in a little SPF 15 and 30 sport for us sweaty gals, fun Jackie O type shades, my current fluffy beachread book (usually something by Nora Roberts), softlips chapstick in french vanilla, tons o water, rash guard for surfing, and a big towl.  Balance out the big Mary Poppins bag with a beach chair and my surfboard and I’m good to go!!

    My IPad is my saving grace. Between my brother how has Cirrohsis of the liver and my elderly mother I spend A LOT of time waiting in doctor’s offices. My IPad allows me to listen to music, read books, play games or search the web while I am taking them to doctor’s appointments or sitting with my brother while he is in the hospital. The other day he was asleep and I was sitting with him and I had downloaded a crochet magazine to my IPad and was able to crochet some really cute Cupcake shaped hot pad for a neighbor of mine who is graduating from high school and going to major in cuilinary arts. So, needless to say I do not go anywhere without my IPad.

    I have two favorite sunscreens – Bullfrog Gel will stay on you forever and I don’t get burned with it on, ever. But it’s shiny. So, if I’m going to a barbecue or some other event where I don’t want to blind everyone with the glare off my forehead, I wear the Neutrogena DryTouch stuff. If one of those isn’t in my beach/pool bag, I’m not going anywhere! :)

    Item #2: Bottle of frozen water: melts as you go, because who wants to return from a refreshing dip in the ocean only to find that your water has been boiled by the sun?

    Item #3:( Lori beat me to the punch to share this goodie): Ocean Potion SPF 50 Anti-Aging Sunblock: recommended by my dermatologist; effective, and it absolutely smells like an orange Creamsicle!

Ni like to put them in my potted plants for decorative purposes and to discourage my cats from using them for a litterbox…one time I found some great shells but by the time I got to the hotel room to rinse them they started walking around!     that bag is gorg! my favorite pool/beach bag item is either a good library book or some good chapstick with some spf. nothing says summer like a yummy flavored chapstick! my favorite right now is a raspberry lemonade blast flavored one!

    I simply have to carry a bit of knitting around even in summertime.  It feels a bit odd working with wool when it’s hot, but I love to knit and it always makes me more patient and relaxed.

    We actually set up a small 3 sided tent so we can have some shade when we choose.  It’s nice to be able to take a break from the sun and read or nap in the shade while you’re at the beach.  We set up on the perimeter somewhere so we’re not blocking anyone else’s view and stay pretty much all day.

    Being as all the beaches around here (in the Midwest) surround lakes, my beach “must-haves” are a good rod-and-reel and Mepps spinner in case there’s a rocky area nearby where they walleyes hang out!

    I have extremely fair skin, so I’ll typically drag around 3 or 4 different kinds of sunscreen; one for my lips, one for my body, one for my face, a face powder with SPF so I’m not shiny…  My fave product is Sunscreen Swipes by Supergoop, the tiny package fits easily in my purse, and it’s super easy to get all-over coverage even on face and ears without getting it in your eyes…also doesn’t hurt that they’re cooling on a hot day!

     BABY POWDER is a must!  Shake some on your feet before you put your flip flops back on- it’s the easiest way to brush the sand off!  I use it on my kid’s arms and legs then brush the sand off before I put them in the car.  Bonus: I don’t have to vacuum the sand out later!
