May 31, 2012 | 374 Comments

With summer unofficially rung in, I have one of my favorite things to giveaway.

A beach bag by Trina Turk!!

New Dress A Day - DIY - Vintage Dress - Trina Turk Beach Bag

Win Me!! (My sunnies not included)

I love Trina’s stuff and I snagged the Mykonos beach tote at a sample sale a little while back as a lovely giveaway for you guys.  It’s really the perfect bag for the summa, summa, summa time!!

It’s clear, making it awesome to actually see your sunscreen, sunnies or phone instead of just grabbing away like the dickens.  That’s pretty much me all the time – too big bag, rustling my hand around, sometimes getting stabbed with rogue safety pins… Plus, because it’s plastic, a little bit of ocean mist or pool water won’t get your goods wet.

See how cool and clear this is!

To enter, leave a comment below listing your go-to/beach bag/must have/can’t live without/thing/item/product.  Maybe it’s a snack, a book, or maybe it’s the best darn lip gloss you’ve ever applied!  A winner will randomly get picked next Tuesday (6/12) just to give everyone some time to enter.

143 Days to Go: $2 Remake

May 29, 2012 | 49 Comments

I bought this dress thinking that I’d for sure use the fabric because it seemed a bit small.  I didn’t try it on when I was at the thrift store, but just looked at the $2 price tag and said let’s do it!  Blue velvet?  A total no-brainer!

New Dress a Day - DIY - Vintage Blue Velvet Dress - Before Shot - Too Short - 144

Day 144 - Before

It ended up fitting, but it was super short and there were lots of holes around the seams up top!

Ooph, holes!

Luckily for me, there was a good three inches that were saved for the hem, so the length will be getting a little adjusting along with those holes!  I have a cocktail attire wedding to attend and this piece is going to be just the mod outfit to celebrate in!

I just loved the minty green shade of this one buckaroo dress.  It was pretty to begin with but just wasn’t working as it was so I came up with a few ideas to try to make this fun and summery.
