Week 13: Football Sunday!

It’s been a little hectic in my neck of the woods, sewing aside, because my parents who have been my neighbors here in Los Angeles for the past few years are now North Carolina bound!  All of my before pictures have been shot at their house, so the blog has also reaped the benefits of their close proximity and front lawn.

Backyard Workshop!

Backyard Workshop!

Come the beginning of February, I’ll be embarking on a little road trip heading down south to help them get situated in their new digs and you’ll all obviously be coming along with, via photos and maybe some video :)

It’s definitely bittersweet, and I’m sure I’ll have my moments where I get sad, however I feel so lucky and blessed to have had them so close for the time they were here.  It’s an exciting move for them to be close to family and I’m looking forward to trips and more extended family visits.  Today we had a little goodbye gathering where friends and family stopped by for pizza, stories, and football.  I wore a $1 find that was completely fitting for today.

Vintage SF!

Vintage SF!

A vintage t-shirt from the 49ers 1988 NFC Championship!  It was a perfect fit and honestly one of the softest and most deliciously comfy shirts.  Unfortunately this shirt was not lucky…

…and since this shirt did not bring luck, I’m going with this one for next week!

Giants time!

Giants time!

Sorry Pats fans, even though I’m a Jets enthusiast, I’m going with the other NY team to take the Super Bowl.  We’ll see if this shirt brings any luck in two weeks!

Best of Luck to your Family on their move. Look on the bright side, road trips can be fun and you will have a new batch of second hand shops to explore when you visit!

Oh, I can’t wait!!  Should be great for all those thrift stores, for sure!

My family moved away from NC a few years back up to Ohio, so I totally understand the feeling.  In fact, ALL my family moved away from NC after that- It is just me here now!

    • New Dress A Day

No way!  Well, we might have to make a visit together :)

I am a Packers Fan so I am collecting all of my fellow Packers Friends and instead of watching the Super Bowl we are going to re-watch last years win and pretend that they won for a second time. lol. I cannot stand the Pats or the Giants.

    • New Dress A Day

      Ha, love that idea!

L.A. to North Carolina?  Oh no.  You poor baby.  I’m sad for you.  But there are good things too to having family not so close.  ha ha  As for the Super Bowl, I would have liked to see the Ravens against S.F. since neither team has a SB ring yet.  But since that won’t happen, I’ll vote for your Giants. :-)   I really just watch for the commercials and because it’s an excuse to make a whole bunch of appetizers and pig out with my family.  hee hee

Seeing the Ravens would have been amazing and I totally agree…commercials and snacks all the way!!

aww sad to hear that since i’ve enjoyed your amazing family outings vicariously.  i live in NC too so we’re glad to welcome your parents to the east coast, hopefully they’ll bring some of the fun with them.  maybe we’ll be seeing you around this way more often.

    • New Dress A Day

Definitely :) The outings will continue…fear not!

My dad retired to North Carolina from Chicago with his second wife 15 years ago. I was sad to see them go, but they have loved every minute of being there.  He especially enjoyed the golfing there. I hope your folks enjoy it too.
