Week 25: Lucia’s NDAD Creation

Today’s remake is from Lucia in Arkansas!

“Here is probably my favorite project I’ve done in the past few months.  I found an amazing zippered house coat, satin with this great leopard print.  There is a cherry blossom design over the leopard print, it really is pretty.

Let’s see what Lucia does with this housecoat!!  I love me some satin!

I chopped it off to make a blouse and using the material from the bottom built a wrap.  The wrap top is great on voluptuous frames like mine, and I’m all about adding cleavage to everything ha ha!   This is so comfortable and makes me feel great every time I wear it.”

You could even work it as a Halloween costume because of the leopard print.  Grab some cat ears, a tail, and voila…instant costume!

    Hee Hee I am so excited to see my piece on here.  This just completely made my day!  As to how the wrap was made, I used a wrap around blouse I had as a general pattern.  After I cut the zipper out I added a piece to each side to create the wrap around part.  I also sewed ties out of some of the left over material, created a hole in one side seam for one of the ties to go through and viola!  I’ve done this again with other pieces because I liked the result so well.  Thanks Marissa!!

    My only complaint is Lucia covering her face.  The word housecoat gets me every time.  My British adopted mother-in-law shopts for them when she comes to the States because she can’t find them in the UK.  Too funny.  She wears them straight-up, not like Lucia’s.

    Finally!!!!  Something for the voluptuous (love that word, so much better than “full-figure” which makes me think of those days when women like me had to settle for house coats, muu-muus, and caftans sans make-over.  Woohoo! for Lucia!!                                                                                                 Marisa, you are a beautiful lady, but so many of your creations, on me, would look like a sausage stuffed into too tight a casing.  Not a pretty sight by a long shot.  Even adapting them to my voluptuous figure didn’t do it.  So featuring Lucia’s house coat make-over was what I’ve been waiting for.  Been reading your blog right along, and I’ll keep doing so, but hoping you’ll feature more for us “women of substance” ;>)                                                                                                                               Thank you Lucia for the how-to post in the comments.
