I was mesmerized by this collar when I saw it in Lucky this month. It was in the Paris accessory trend section which I was obsessed with as soon as I saw the Chloé and Christian Dior pieces featured. If only there was a French macaroon on the page as well…
This Anne Fontaine piece was something that I knew I could have a go at. Black lace and ribbon?? Done and done.
Hi y’all! (I just saw The Help, so I’m feeling kind of Southern)
Hope you’re either staying cool from the heat or faring well in the storms wherever you are!! Today’s remake comes from Sara…
“Hi from Michigan, Marisa! I’ve been following your blog ever since you started, and finally got around to going thrifting and nabbed some fantastically ugly dresses for only a few bucks. Here’s one! I loved the fabric and the buttons…
…but the style looked like something a 90s church mom would wear.
We probably want to veer away from the costuming of Dana Carvey, so let’s see how this puppy turned out!
We’re finishing out the work week with this stunner from Tatiyana in Portland!
“The detail on this dress is beautiful and I don’t think you’ve worked with something like this before. I’m curious to see where you go with it – have fun!!”
While taking the before shots, I couldn’t help but spin around to make that skirt flutter!! (I was so completely dizzy post spin, PS!)
I think I know exactly what I’m going to do!!
So when I crafted a strapless number from this piece that Becs sent last week…
…I knew that I wanted to give it a pretty shade of something fabulous. After skimming through your ideas and taking them into full consideration, Stacy, Wiola and Sandi in South FL took it! I went with…
I think I was being channeled to work on today’s piece for some reason. I had all these hidden and subliminal messages that kind of just pushed me in the direction that I went.
FIRST: A viewing of Summer School (because I can’t ever turn away when it’s on TNT, even midway through) and Kirstie Alley in a denim top. Yeah, 1987!!
SECOND: Some scouring on the Urban Outfitters site (because I’m always scoping out the virtual sale racks) which led me to this click.
THIRD: Skimming over the tag of this dress just made a certain someone pop out who has been all over the news (more than the usual) for the past week it seems.
I mean, he’s been all over the place because of his giggle fit and well, the fab Gloria is his mama…
…so this triumphant piece of light denim deliciousness, sent from Jessica in Fayetteville, NC, was what the signs were pointing to, or at least what I thought the signs were pointing to in my magic-filled head.
“I’m obsessed with denim and it’s everywhere now, except it just doesn’t look like this dress! Haha! This piece had a moment thirty years ago (and still managed to find a home in my basement) and deserves another shot. It’s Gloria Vanderbilt and needs a bit of a 2011 makeover which you can most definitely handle.”
