OK, so the move has been more arduous than I had planned…full post pending :) Let’s just say everything that was ‘scheduled’ in the lovely blocks of multiple hours (um, Time Warner Cable, I’m mostly talkin’ to you…) didn’t really pan out in that specific time period, however I keep saying to myself…SERENITY NOW!! I always think of that Seinfeld ep. “Serenity now, sanity later…”
In the interim, Miss Alaina’s recreation is featured today!! Full on holiday weekend garb is getting prepped as we speak and we’ll be back on track soon!! I loved her outcome and am totally Alaina-izing a dress like this shortly.
Rock that pose girl!!
Hope everyone’s week is off to a lovely start! I’m smack dab in the middle of moving – the movers actually come tomorrow, so my world is still a bit chaotic…clothes are boxed up, however I’ve got some awesome pieces to finish later this week that you’ll see. My garment rack is diagonally hanging (no pun intended, really) in my living room…
While crates and hat boxes full of clothes, hats, accessories, and other assorted goodies are chillaxing by my TV.
What a glorious day it shall be when it’s all clean. (FYI – You’ll get a photo of that moment which I can’t really imagine happening with the current state of things!!)
Thank you for all the amazing entries into the (S)mythology contest!!
The winner is…drum roll…CAT J!! For those of you who didn’t win, you can still grab the book HERE. Another giveaway is headed your way next week, so stay tuned!
Tomorrow and Wednesday, because of the craziness and lack of power/internet in the new digs, I’m going to feature two more of your designs as I write away while grabbing a quick caffeine fix. I promise to be back into a normal routine in few days
I’m finally getting to re-wear the rest of the dress that Teri sent my way, which ended up working out perfectly because it’s been oh, so, warm out, and I’ve been breaking a sweat…
…from the summer weather mixed with the fact that I’m in the midst of moving!
This means filling these boxes, duffel bags and plastic bins, and ending up with the below….
…all while reapplying deodorant all day long because my lack of (current) AC :) My arms are getting a crazy workout though!!
So, back to the outfit – I was leftover with this after the first round…
Time to get crackin!!
Today’s piece is a copycat from the amazing new book, (S)mythology. I haven’t had a lick of time to do much reading lately, however I picked this up and I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a total modern day fairy-tale and being a complete romantic it was simply charming. I fell in love with the main character Sophie and decided to create a piece inspired by her.
To get a little background…the book ‘whisks you on a wild adventure from the streets of London to the far reaches of the globe – from haunted islands to African villages, from the peaks of the Alps to the depths of the Underworld. Twenty-one year old Sophie has spent her entire life in virtual seclusion in a London flat fearful that should she venture out into the world the curse that was placed on her as an infant would turn friends and lovers into stone (marble, to be exact) just by merely looking at her. But when events beyond her control drive her onto the streets of London, she must combat her fears and battle the forces that have kept her hidden away since childhood.’ The book is by first time author Jeremy Tarr, so clearly I felt inspired because his first go was so fantastic – I’m in the throws of first time author-dom right now which will be shared as we continue along…stay tuned!!
My Sophie-esque before shot…
…that will become Sophie-worthy soon.
