Day 365. 0 days and $0 left to go.

Nov 29, 2010 | 787 Comments

Let me just begin by saying how painful it was writing today’s title!!  I can’t believe this day has arrived.  It literally seems like just a few short months ago that I began this journey and today it’s coming to an end.  More nostalgia in a bit, but let’s just get to the piece.

I’ve known for awhile what I wanted to do for my last piece but didn’t have the right foundation to create it until I came across this skirt.  Bigger at the waist…

Day 365 - Before

Day 365 - Before

…and a lovely navy complete with small red flowers that made up stripes.

Navy striped!

Navy striped cuteness!!

Now, like I mentioned, this was the foundation of the piece.  During my yearlong journey, I kept all the remnants from the creations leaving me with a whole lotta fabric!  Joann, Michael’s, Hancock Fabrics…you ain’t got nothing on me!!  I really wanted to incorporate the remnants into my final piece somehow – the blog is my virtual journal and the fabric is the physical one – so I decided to cut hearts from what I was left with from the year.

Hearts!!

Hearts!!

And this became a total family affair…my mom even joined in on the heart cutting! (We spent our little Santa Barbara road trip yesterday finishing them up in the back seat while listening to football and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You” as the holiday stations were blaring loud and clear on the 101.

Cutting hearts!!

Mom cutting hearts!!

The fruits of our labor…

Hearts & Coffee!!

Hearts & Coffee!!

I began placing different shapes and checking out how different patterns worked out…

Beginning to lay out...

Beginning to lay out...

…and then began to make straight lines across and layer them up.  It was turning into a little patchwork ensemble which I was totally enjoying but more for sentimental reasons.  I kept thinking about the outfit the heart coincided with – what I did that day, how I felt, where I was, which made it a total nostalgic process.

Layers and layers of hearts!

Layers and layers of hearts!

After some stitching and some hot gluing the heart edges down (this piece will remain in the scrapbook for me, so I wasn’t worried about the glue sitch) my new piece was ready to be unveiled!!

Day 365 - After

Day 365 - After

It was a celebratory day to spend with my family, amazing friends and the Nutcracker below.

Holiday decorations are in full effect!

Holiday decorations are in full effect!

We had a fabulous brunch complete with…

Brunch with the family!

Brunch with the family!

…unlimited champagne!!!  Yes, that’s right, unlimited champagne.  We were poppin’ bottles at the table :)

Cheers!!

Cheers to champagne wishes and caviar dreams!!

For my final after pic of the year, I just had to give props and high five all of you out there!  From my amazing fam & friends, my photographers (mostly those who I just mentioned aside from a few random people in parking lots and at the movies), readers, commenters…this was a total collaboration and I couldn’t be happier to share it with all of you.

High Five!

High Five!

And scene :)

When I started this blog I set out to do something for myself.  I needed a creative constant in my life when everything else seemed to be a bit out of wack.  To see how it grew into something that so many others gained inspiration from, a few chuckles, and a spark of creativity has completely blown my mind.  I was dealing with a layoff, hitting an age bracket, and trying to figure things out all while not losing my mind when this came to fruition and I’m so grateful for the support and love that I’ve received.  Let’s say that I beat that triple threat and my 30th year was the best of my life.

So the question remains…this year has come to an end, but what happens next?  Will I continue??  Heck yeah!!  The idea of stopping something that has given me so much more than I could have possibly imagined is just not an option.  I wake up seeing all of your comments and amazing emails each day which makes this girl overjoyed.  If I ever feel down I know exactly where to look.

I’ll be spending December posting, as per usual, however it won’t be daily dresses and redos as it is right now.  You’ll still be getting some – the holidays are around the corner and plaid is in the air – but I’m going to mix it up with other fun stuff to keep everyone excited.  And that means the shoulder pads will have their own spotlight this month!!  The holidays are about giving, not taking away, right :)   I’m going to take a little breather all while getting prepped and ready for New Dress A Day’s redux, sequel, continuation, next chapter if you will.

I will be catching up on sleep (thank you to all my second mothers out there looking out for me and my rest – you are amazing and my real mother appreciates your care and concern), all your emails (yes, I will get to each and every one of them) and working on all the fun/fabulous new bits to welcome the new year with.

I’d like to look at this as just the beginning friends…I’m not going anywhere :)

xx Marisa

Phenomenal work! As a long-time seamstress, I have been blown away by your vision and creative talent. Bravo! Your last piece reminded me of my Christmas tree garland. I used to make holiday dresses. Instead of tossing my scraps, I put Wonder Under between the various fabrics, cut out hearts and then stitched the hearts together to make a chain; Wonder Under made the fabric stiffer. Every year, my garland reminds me of the countless dresses I made. More proof that anything can be recycled! Many blessings.

    Marisa,
I have been laid off for a year and a half, my husband longer than that, we could lose our house. We have no money for gifts yet 3 wonderful babies have come into my life and I got my sewing machine out and am making flannel baby blankets 45″ X 45 with satin (arggg) trim. I made a rag doll from left over material – named, what else “Rags.” I am losing weight and can’t wait to make new clothes out of my old ones. You, girl, have changed my life…I have tears in my eyes. Thank you , thank you. And I am almost 60.

  • Jordan

With what dread we all awaited this day. I surprised myself by weeping through your post because of the sweet way you wrote it and even though I truly want you to take a break. It has to have been a strain at times, most especially after you started work full time again and good heavens Marisa you have such an active social life! You made us all feel so included. I am going to attempt two fixes in tribute to you and all you have shown us! Too chicken to use the sewing machine I am going to try by hand!
Other readers, I was proud to read your kind posts- the world is better because of this sharing.
Best of luck Marisa. Will raise a glass to you later on!

Congratulations on finishing! You and I are both winding up year 30, I don’t have the creative accomplishments to show off, but 30 was also a great year for me (getting married just 1 month shy of my 30th birthday). Hope 31 is filled with lots more of that creativity and giving of your time, sleep, and talent to all of us cyberfans out here. : ) May God bless you in 2011!

I can’t believe it’s over! I’m only sorry that I didn’t discover your blog right away and only witnessed about half of your journey. I really look forward to seeing what else you post. Thanks to you, every time I go to a thrift shop and look at old clothes, I think “What would Marisa do?!” and I always have endless inspiration!

Are you considering hosting some sort of event? Personally I live in Orange County and I would love to meet you someday. I know you mentioned somewhere having some sort of big yard sale with all the dresses you didn’t want to keep. Or maybe you could do a crafting event! Well I’m sure whatever you do, it’ll be fabulous.

I just wanted to say Congrats and Thank you! Thank you for allowing us to come along with you on this incredible journey. You have inspired me to buy a sewing machine and learn to sew…but also to be more creative in all areas of my life. You have become part of my daily routine….wake up..feed my little ones…then Coffee & Marisa’s blog! You have shown us all that something beautiful can come from the most unlikely places…not just with your redos..but from the fact that you blossomed out of a difficult time in your life…you didn’t just say “poor me” and get depressed…you took charge of your creative/jobless/age funk…and because of this..you not only pulled yourself through to the other side…but you inspired women (literally) around the world to do the same! You Go Marisa with your bad self!!! :) I’m excited to see what lay ahead for you! Next stop Shoulder Pad Express…Toot Toot!

Although I didn’t find your blog until you were well underway in your year-long project, I’ve read every single blog and have looked forward to it each afternoon since! I’ve been consistently amazed at the transforming work you do. I so admire artists–those who create something from nothing (you are truly an artist)–and am so sad to see this fun blog reach its end. But I’m so excited for your new adventures! Good luck to you, Marisa! You’re awesome, girl!

  • LisaK

So glad that you are not totally disappearing, but pleased that you are going to take it a bit easier from now on. You must need a rest.
To say you did well would be an understatement, but the main thing is that as all this seems to have taken off you have stayed lovely, normal and not big headed.
Well done. Put your feet up. You have been appreciated.

Marissa- I have been watching you since August. You are so inspiring to me! I have shared many of your amazing dresses with my students, I am a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. Thank you for a wonderful journey.

  • Katie

Thank you for your wonderful blog and being consistent for this whole year! I have enjoyed it very much and been inspired many times.
Today I received a huge compliment for the cute outfit I was wearing. I wore a too-big-shirt that I used your pinch and cinch technique on the shoulders and a brooch on the back to bring it in. The woman said she loved the attention to detail on my shirt. So I let her in on my secret and showed her your blog. She was surprised. She really thought I bought the shirt this way.
I lost a lot of weight this year but am not ready to buy a new wardrobe. Now I really won’t need to. I’ll have to get a new sewing machine though, as mine broke while I was bringing in all of my pants and shirts. I’m looking forward to what you do next!!

    Love,
    katie

    Marisa,
I came in late to your blog (about 3 months ago) but I have enjoyed it so much. Today was not a favorite of mine in terms of fashion, but I totally dig the “heart” you put into creating it :) I’m glad you have decided to continue and I eagerly await when you will be done with your vacation and continue to wow us with your skills. Kudos!- Erica G.

    Hi, Marisa…

You’re obviously an intelligent, fun, original, disciplined, creative young woman and I predict you’ll go far in life if this blog is any indication of your potential. Thanks for your inspiration and congratulations on a successful project I enjoyed following from Day 1.

And ignore those critical nay-sayers who’ve left snarky comments throughout the year and will doubtlessly continue to do so. This blog and project were about YOU and YOUR creativity; NOT theirs. Sadly, so many people think everything is about them and are quick to see only the negative of something and judge others without being able to put their money where their mouth is. How tiresome. So what if they don’t like the outfits you’ve created? Who cares? The point is YOU had a good time and so did most of the rest of us who’ve watched your progress.

Keep having fun and spreading your joie de vivre!

    Cheers!

    Tess

She is a blanket feind, and couldn’t help but add thst she would be a perfect little manequin! Thank you Marisa for sharing your talent and inspiration with the rest of us!

Count me as one of the many you’ve inspired–I bought a sewing machine, took a sewing class, and attempted a few projects so far. It had NEVER occurred to me before to try that, and it never would have if it weren’t for your blog. Thanks you so much for your hard work and creativity, and for sharing it with all of us.

Your blog has honestly changed my life. I’ve always loved being creative but was afraid to take chances. When I saw your blog and realized I could do this too it was like a light bulb went off. Ever since (August) my house has been non-stop creativity! From clothing recreations, to crocheted scarves with pockets, to wall hangings made from scrap fabric. I feel like I’ve come alive! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring so many people like me.

It truly is miraculous how many people you have touched with your blog. You are worldwide girlfriend!! I thank you for inspiring me to somewhat follow in your footsteps and am thankful in this season of gratitude that you were willing to share your journey. Marisa, I have so thoroughly enjoyed this time of watching you make fabulous creations from hopelessly bad outfits. I am so proud of how this has developed to allow you to be on national television on Nate Berkus and other shows. I am certain that this exposure will bring you much success and utilization of your wonderful talents. I adore your humor, but my gosh you have a busy social schedule… Take Care and God Bless You….

Yay Marissa! You are brilliant! I look forward to following your 31st year :)

  • Nat

I bet you a million dollars this part of your life will eventually become a HOLLYWOOD movie! I’ve been following you since, I think, day 220 or somewhere in that range, and I have been blown away by your creativity (I even put your blog in my Bookmarks Toolbar haha). Kudos to you and your amazing feat! I can’t wait to see your take on other clothes or accessories, like possibly turning overalls into gorgeous jeans or, instead of turning your clothes into a costume, turning a costume into your clothes. I don’t know haha :)

  • Carole

Hooray hooray hooray!!!!!! More Marissa! Enjoy your well-deserved break, and we’ll look forward to seeing NDAD Redux.

The place where I live in Vermont has a food co-op, member-owned, all about natural foods and sustainability. Now they also have a Sew-Op! 6 sewing machines, a couple of nice studio rooms, materials, and volunteers who help folks with projects. After a year of being your fan, I went to the Sew-Op for the first time, TONIGHT of all nights. I felt so inspired by you, and happy for you. Got my sewing machine threaded & up and running. Thank you Marissa!

Here’s a link to my co-op if others would like to contact us, and start their own sew-op: http://www.uppervalleyfood.coop/

Tearing up here…because of the meaningful day 365 dress with the hearts from all of your creations! Truly a work of art from a true artist. Beautiful!! I wasn’t worried about it being the last one, I knew there would be more of Marisa even though the days were coming to an end, because someone with something that awesome will only become more awesome! I too check out newdressaday before anything else every day. I have been so inspired and invigorated. I have enjoyed your daily journeys and happenings. I have become a regular at the local thrift stores and made a few of my own creations. You have added a little sparkle in our days and I wish you much success and happiness! Happy New Year!!!!

I have to admire you for your determination. I don’t think I would have the stamina to do something and then post it every single day! You definitely deserve some rest, and I’m really glad you’re going to continue :) .

Glad to hear that you are sticking around! I look forward to reading your new chapter!

    Marisa,
Thank you so much for giving this shy lurker so much enjoyment, not to mention creative inspiration. You have triggered something in me, given me permission to take out the scissors and seam ripper and say “why not have some fun with this old thing?”

Thank you, thank you, thank you. And best of luck to you.

p.s. Shoulder-pad-orama would make a great puffy winter jacket me thinks!

  • Trouble_scorn

Congratul.ations!! I learned of your project about half way through from Yahoo News and just had to catch up by reading everything before hand. I love it. Your determination, your inspiration, and your dedication, to both your goals and your fans. You are amazing. You deserve every bit of praise that you have recieved. You took what could have been the worst time in your life and made it into a journey that the whole nation has been following, both online and on TV. You are a star in every sense of the word, and I look forward to your future designs.

    Good luck!

Oh Man, Marisa, I did not think this last day was gonna make me cry. But I am all choked up! Wow! All this time I thought, let the girl do her thing, if she needs to be done that’s totally understandable! LOL But your look back on how it’s affected us and you just is so sweet. And I really enjoy seeing that you are not burned out. We don’t have to be burned out on the sweet things we enjoy… I think that speaks deeply to me. I think so many times I quit just because it seems time to. Well, not on the more important things, but…. I look forward to trying and find the things that I just enjoy doing, and not quitting… I don’t know if that makes any sense… oh well…. choked up in Houston, Pioneer Princess. xoxox and God Bless you!

Will you be auctioning off any pieces??

  • atlmom

You are such an inspiration. Because of you, I’ve become a thrift store queen. Small request for next year – Can you provide details regarding your sewing machine settings. I am a beginner and did not have good luck with light-weight fabrics. Regarding your old job – Layoffs can be the best thing. It forces you to evaluate your priorties thereby encourages you to pursue your passions. Good Luck and I can’t wait for Year 2.

  • Rosie71255

My daughter got me hooked on your project–you are very talented, witty and creative!!! You were the first thing I opened when I got on my computer every afternoon. I will look forward to your updates–can’t wait to see the shoulder pads creation!!!

Congratulations Marissa, and thank you. As many have already said here, you have been an inspiration. I know I’ve already begun amassing a collection of thrift store dresses of great potential…it is remarkable how my vision has changed because of viewing your blog. And, I’m sure I needn’t say, this isn’t just about clothing, but about harnessing one’s creative energy in whatever form it takes and going for it…and about learning to see the beauty and potential in all things, however homely and rejected they may be. Once again: congratulations!!

  • Tracy

Now, I really miss having my sewing machine with me! I bet you feel a little relieved to have the 365 days part over with! I can’t wait to see what else you create, especially with those shoulder pads. I’m thinking, it could create an interesting stuffed toy for a child… Also, I would like to see more sleeves on some dresses. Some of us can’t get away with sleeveless dresses, due to shape or climate. Overall, I look forward to continued reading!

This is my first posting to you, but I have been following for quite some time. Thank you for the “gift” of your wonderful postings. They have put a daily smile on my face as I scroll up and down many times from the before to the after and a glimpse into your life and thoughts.

In addition to your lovely dress creations, I admire your attitude, for your integrity to keep your commitment to your project to the 365th day, along with an extra bonus on day 364.

Congrats! Since I found your blog this summer seeing your creations has been one of my favorite ways to end my night. I’m wondering, what are you planning on doing with all the clothes? Recreating them? Auctioning them off? Your closet’s gotta be bursting by now! :)

  • Teri

I was feeling a little sad when I began thinking about this being over. I have loved seeing all the amazing things you have done with something that was horrible. But I am so happy to see that you will be continuing! ^_^ I didn’t always get a chance to check up every day, but since you won’t be doing it every day now, when I get the chance to check up it won’t be tons of posts to read. I can’t wait to see where things go for you now! ^_^

  • http://www.painted-ladies.com Sheilasharkee

You did such an amazing job, so inspiring, and I hope this is just the beginning of wonderful things for you. Love, love, love how freaking creative you are, and wish I had an inch of your ability to sew!!!!

  • Tink in Cali

My daughter (who is 12) and I love your blog and have both been inspired as well. Last week, I found a cami with awesome fabric, but I hated the front, so I tried it on backwards and it worked perfectly – I would never have thought of that if it wasn’t for you. And when we were at the thrift store a few weeks ago, we got my daughter some dresses to turn into skirts. We are soooo glad you are continuing. Thank you for the fun and ideas you have given us!

  • Vmfisher

I have enjoyed reading your blog since I found it a few months ago. I love your creativity. I am glad you will still be around.

O.M.G. It’s been a year! I have totally, entirely, absolutely loved following your blog. Congratulations to your year-long achievement! Not everyone can say the same thing… we usually stop after a few weeks, days or even hours… but you didn’t!

Kudos, Marisa! Here’s to hoping I’d see another project (hopefully a continuation of this one) soon!

Wow, what a finale!!! Encore! Encore!

Is it a cosmic coincidence that I just did the 2 hearts myself yesterday (probably while you are doing or wearing your many many hearts)? Past few days I have been making a white dress out of a skirt I got (from flea market) that came with, no kidding, a whopping 8 inches of crochet at the bottom. I was desperately trying to find a solution to patch up the mess of seams around the bottom parts of arm holes I cut out – result of my nearly non-existent sewing skill. While I was staring at the patches wall at our local drug store Müller here in Vienna, I remembered you cut out 2 hearts for one of your pieces, and there came my solution: cut out 2 hearts, one for each hole, from a white iron-on patch and stick a little white butterfly patch on each!

Marisa – thank you for a whole year of ideas and inspirations! You are amazing and will certainly be remembered at our flea market trips and make-it-work moments! I eagerly await what you come up with next, after you get some well-deserved rest.

  • kiwichick

Marisa, what an inspiration you are! Rest up girl, chill out, relax… you deserve it. And then I look forward to seeing what you’ve got up your sleeve next! Bless you, big hugs and kisses :)

Marisa, if i were a guy, I would be madly in love with you! :-D Thanks so much for this fantastic year!

I started sewing because of you – even my skills are only sufficent for sewing pillows: I stay tuned to it. I am going to “marisasise” those unwearn things in my wardrobe – at least i’ve got the motivation to do it :-)
Thanks for inspiring and motivating me. And for making me laugh. And for enhancing my vocabulary (you have to stay tuned with your blog: I hope I can improve my english that way, haha) :-) And thanks for beeing “freckles”, i’m a Redhead and i really really love freckles!

    Hugs from Europe,

  • Louise

Marisa, Thanks for a wonderful year of having your fab blog to read on my lunch breaks! I’ve shown this to so many friends to prove you don’t need to be a couture dressmaker to turn old garments into fantastic dresses!

I hope you continue to be insipred by seemingly hideous 80s rejects for many years to come!

Loved what you did with the skirt. I would have never thought of turning it into a dress and using all the heart patches.

And, just like the others, I’m so happy you’re going to be continuing and can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

  • DeLyncia

    Marisa,
This is the first time I’ve ever written a comment and I kinda knew I would because I have so enjoyed being on this journey with you. I didn’t start out on it with you but when I came across your postings/blog I knew I was lead to it for a reason. Thank you for being so candid and sharing your lovely creations. I’ve been in awe of what you have managed to bring out in each piece. Seeing the beauty where others might not have. What a tremendous gift you have. I wasn’t looking forward to reading your last postings because reading them each day has become part of my day. I am glad to hear it will continue but equally as glad to know you’ll be taking a bit of a breather. All the best to you and yours. I wish you the merriest of holiday seasons. Until the next posting….

Congratulations and thank you so much for a fun year – I have looked forward to your posts every day. I learned how to sew when I 12 years old and used to troll the thrift shops and “re-tool” my treasures to wear to school. I haven’t done that in many years, but you have inspired me to try my hand at it again. Best of luck on your next venture and I look forward to your future projects :)

Congratulations Marisa on completing the 365 challenge! I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I have been forwarding your blog email to my mum every day and we have been discussing your garments. In fact, my mum and I have just started sourcing ‘challenging’ dresses (we refer to them as ‘Marisa dresses’ – no offence!) to refashion as part of a competition between ourselves – we choose them for each other! We are up to Project 3 at the moment! So you have inspired us to be a little more creative which is wonderful! Thank you so much! I am very glad to hear that we haven’t heard the last from you and that you have enjoyed it as much as we have! xx

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have loved being able to share this journey with you. As 30 is just around the corner for me I relate to so much of where you were/are in your life and you have given me hope, inspiration and a new mantra… “what would Marissa do?” (maybe you could put that on t shirts) :) Even my husband has marveled at your before and after photos, and he’s not normally interested if it doesn’t have wheels or an engine. I think they would make a fab coffee table book!
You have earned yourself a rest, but not too long or some of us will go through withdrawal. :) If in your travels you ever make it to New Zealand I’d be more than happy to show you around.
I know that this is however not goodbye and that the next phase of NDAD will be even more awesome than the last.
    You rock!

I just wanted to say that I have REALLY enjoyed you allowing me to follow along with you on this interesting journey. Your blog is the first thing I check on every day when I get to work. For someone like me who is “sewing” challenged, you have been an inspiration !! I may even try to put my own Marissa rework on a garment or too !! You are very talented and thank you for sharing every day. Your eye for style is amazing and I am so happy that I stumbled upon your blog. I wish you continued future success and I will be along for the next journey !!
I am glad that you showed people that you don’t have to spend lots of $$ to be stylish and fill your wardrobe. There are many “diamonds” in the rough out there and can find new life again.

Marisa, I started following a few months ago and really enjoy it. It was one of the things I did almost every day and if I missed it was easy to catch up. Didn’t want to miss a day. I think the thing that made it so inspiring was that you used simple sewing skills that anyone could do and a lot of imagination. Thanks for the boost to my creative process. I have bought dye and I am salvaging things I loved that I thought would have to be tossed. I love sewing and look forward to repurposing many items in the future. I happy you will be continuing. I will be following.

congrats! it’s been such a joy to see what you’ve done here.

  • Alyse C

Congrats on the entire year! My question is: what are you going to do with the outfits you created?

    • Angela

That’s one of my questions too.

  • Laaadeedaa

You’re truly an inspiration! Your enthusiasm for life is outstanding! I wish you the best in all you pursue! Thank you for being so awesome!!!

  • Mia

Many Congrats! You have been so inspirational… Your blog was featured on Yahoo! this past summer, and I have really enjoyed reading it every single day since then. I watched Julie & Julia last Thanksgiving, and was also originally inspired to do something similar; however, I still have not found my “niche”. Good luck with everything, and I really look forward to seeing more of your work!
    Cheers,
    Mia

Thank you for a wonderful year. You have truly inspired me. I am so glad that you are not ending this journey entirely. I think the world would fall apart if you did, or there would be lots of lost people!! Lots of love to you. Kate

  • Lily

I’ve followed your year and you’ve done good! I’ve been re-threading myself for some time buying my supplies @ various thrift shops and releasing their 2nd life. I think you have the makings (from your before & after posts) for a BOOK. What do you think?

  • Crabb Debbie

We, your adoring fans are so happy you and your fab creations will not be going away from our lives!! Love you Marissa!!!

  • Rosie

So glad you are sticking around! You really are an inspiration. I’m definitely not the only one who has taken a page out of your book and redone some thrift store goodness. Maybe you could take reader submissions/before/afters? Just an idea for when you are truly rested!

Thank you Marisa for brightening my day each morning (in England) I have always believed that if you do the thing you love, with determination and self belief, success will come to you. I look forward to continuing to follow your journey. What you did was obviously enjoyable, but we all know the hard work and commitment it took. Congrats, you deserve every happiness!

I am sooooo glad you won’t be stopping just because your 365 days are up! I was freaking out about not seeing your email in my inbox.
Congrats on your year…it was a blast to watch.

  • Jo

So happy you are continuing. I found you late, but caught up quickly. My favorite mental exercise was to look at the before pic and try to guess what you were going to do with the dress. Here’s to you in the next year!

  • Michelina

Honey, you’ve made it! How I have enjoyed following your journey over the year. Thank you for sharing it with everyone. Looking forward to the next adventure. <>

I’ve been wondering about the shoulder pads…glad to see they’re not forgotten and can’t wait to see what on earth you can think of to do with them.

  • Pynkrayne

Nearly 500 comments and each of them is well deserved! You’ve been such a light part of my day, I look forward to seeing what comes next (and what becomes of all those shoulder pads)!

Congratulations! I’ve been quietly following your blog and thoroughly enjoying your creativity. Today I just had to come out and say that I’m so impressed with your monster talent! I look forward to more postings in whatever shape your immense creativity takes.
    All the best to you.

    i swear youre my idol!
really. when i first found this blog, i wanted to go to flewmarket, which i did the next day, and since then i spend all my saturday mornings there, searching for such great projects as yours.. i dont even buy anything anywhere else anymore. thank you so much! <3 <3 <3

  • Becca

Isn’t it wonderful to be able to see such a huge project completed? You did awesome and it has been inspiring to see things you have made. I’m actually going to work on some redo’s myself. Turning my old skirts into dresses for my little girl who is four. I just hope that they turn out good. But that is one nice thing about not having bought anything. If I mess up, then I didn’t spend anything! Congratulations and we are all dying to see what you come up with using those nasty-awful-should have never been invented-shoulder pads. (although some ladies really do need them, just not most of us, personally I look like I’m wearing football pads when I have them in and so I cut them out every time too)

  • Hana

wow, I can’t believe it’s done, and you didn’t even miss a single day! I was in the middle of my sowing class when I first saw your blog, and it gave me an inspiration boost, it helped me keep at it and finish the course. So I wanted to thank you for it. I really look forward to redeaing your next posts!! :D

  • SZ

Congratulations, and special thanks for sharing!

    Marissa -

It has been an absolute joy to see what you create each day…months ago I spent several hours catching up and looked through all the previous days to see what I had missed since I came to the party late :) …I showed your blog to the freshman seminar class that I teach (this year’s theme is recycle, reuse, renew)…glad you are not going anyway…to the future!

    • Susan

should be ‘anywhere’…not anyway – oops!

  • KC

Ohhh, I am soo glad, Marisa, that you aren’t stopping completely! I look forward to your emails everyday!!

  • Mari T.

Today I decided to comment, after 364 days of being here undercover! I just LOVED every single outfit, and the creative way that you made each one of them unique and beautiful, even the ones that I thought were impossible (you are an artist!!!!)
Any way, you gave us an amazing message, it was a great year, and I admire you so much!!
Congrats, you deserve!! I’m looking foward to see what comes next here!
    Love, from Brazil! ;)

  • Bethany Pearson

Because of you, I have decided to re-do the clothes I already have, instead of just tossing them in the donate pile and shopping frivolously. Thanks so much for all the inspirations!

  • Lauren

Congrats Ms. Lynch! I’m really proud of you. :>

  • Italianbistro15

Congratulations. you are an inspiration to me.

  • A.Fox

Wow. This made me a little teary, I have to admit! I LOVE this final project. So clever, and a beautiful work of art. How lovely you had help from your fam., too. I’m inspired, beyond words, from all of your work and I can’t wait to see what you continue to do!

Aww.. I remember some of the outfits from those hearts!
I’m another follower of the blog who is so happy you are sticking around. Not only have I lived vicariously through your wardrobe transformations, but all the fun stuff you get to do! I’m a SAHM and you are a little social butterfly. I am so glad you have had such a positive year with this experiment and I look forward to seeing what else you have planned.

I am breathing a sigh of relief that this is not your final blog, but the beginning of a new and exciting year of creativity. Thank you Marisa for sharing and giving of yourself to us your faceless readers. We applaud you and what you are doing here.

  • Katerina Greece

Congratulations. It was a beautiful journey… Looking forward for the sequel.

  • Missy K.

Congrats on completing your quest. Love your end look. It is very appropriate. Can’t wait to see what you do next.

  • DeeAnn

WAAHHHHH!!! I’m going to be totally selfish here and say that I’m so sad it’s over! I know you must need a well deserved break, but I hope it’s not too long, and I hope we’ll be seeing some new creative things from you soon! I’ve loved getting up and reading your blog every day for the past few months. Now, I wish that I hadn’t plowed through all the old archive posts. I should have doled them out slowly so that I would have something to look forward to through the winter. Marisa, you’ve been an inspiration to many. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

  • Jazzandjava

I am so glad to see that you are not stopping!!! CONGRATS on making it the whole year!! You should be very proud of yourself!

I am so sad to see this come to a end. You have inspired me to be creative. I am so glad you are going to continue this though but yes you do need a breather, I wouldnt be able to come up with all those great ideas like you do everyday. Your blog has become a ritual for me and inspired me. Happy Holidays!!!!

  • Erdaub

Thank you for your blog. You’ve really inspired me to lose weight and care about how I look and feel…I’ve always been a thrifty person, and your blog has inspired me to be a fitter, more confident, more fashionable person, while still being thrifty! Now I’m doing great! I really do hope you continue. I’ve never posted a comment before, but I’ve followed you every day for months and your blog made a big difference in my life :)

  • Tcjensen30

Are you going to take a picture of your closet with all the creations? I would love to see what it looks like!

  • Debjdarby

Marisa, you just get better and BETTER at this! The leopard jumper is SO fashionista! Congratulations on finishing this chapter. Have a good rest, and see you soon. If we don’t see you before, have a very Merry Christmas!

  • Sandra Alicea

This last piece certainly seemed quite an emotional and sentimental one. It certainly is befitted to utilize fabrics from your previous creations. This has been a wonderful year and it has been such a treat waking up in the morning to see just what your creative mind has whipped up. You will be missed but I certainly am happy to know that you will be continuing on in your next quest, chapter, part deux. Rest well Marissa, for a creative mind needs to recoup as well.

  • Mustmakeart

I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog, so much so that through my work, a craft museum in MA, we will be teaching battered women how to make treasures out of trash. Once these ladies get some basic sewing skills, and a few ideas on how to turn crappy clothes into fabulous outfits it will boost self-esteem and improve their wardrobe. Thanks for the inspiration! Best of luck to you in the future!

  • http://newjewelryaday.blogspot.com/ NewJewelryADay

Again, wow. Perfect final project for a job very, very well done. Have a great rest and I look forward to seeing the new projects in your next chapter. :)

    THANK YOU Marisa!!!!

  • Magdalene

Hooray! There’s still more to come! I am so happy. For the past 4 months anyway, since I learned about your blog, this is one thing I had to check before starting my day; right after I looked for e-mails from my far-flung grown children. So what about those shoulder pads… will you spray paint them green and make a christmas tree with them? I can’t picture them as wearing apparel in any form. I can’t wait to find out.

  • Meghan

Im so glad your continuing! Your blog brightens my day :)

  • Gloria

I was thinking maybe a Christmas Wreath made out of the shoulder pads. See, you’ve given me inspiration of my own. Best of luck with what ever you decide to do.

  • Maiken

It’s an honor to have shared this journey with you. I wish you an epic nap!

What a wonderful momento to end the year of creativity! The journey has been long, but I’ve so enjoyed being able to “walk” along with you as you find joy every day. Yes, there’s been some long nights, but you’ve made my mornings so much fun. Especially now since I’ve retired and moved to an area where I know no one, I’ve felt that I’ve had a talented and joyful friend!

Many thanx for making my days enjoyable.

    Namaste.

I’ve so enjoyed your blog and, even though I don’t personally know you, I get so excited for you when you’ve been featured in magazines and on national television! My sister lives in West Hollywood and when I’m down there to visit her, perhaps I’ll be one of the random people who will take your “after” picture!

  • Kylie

Thanks for a great year! Glad you will be continuing.

Congrats on all your success. So glad to hear that you are “keeping on.” I look forward to your updates and you have inspired me to pull my sewing machine out of the closet. I’ve been updating my kid’s hand-me-downs! Thanks to you my four year old doesn’t have to looks stuck in the 90′s! Best Wishes!

it’s been awesome following you this past year. i can’t wait to see what you come up with next….and congrats on all the great stuff that’s happened – you deserve it!

    Dear Marissa,
I am one of the silent readers who tunes in everyday to add a bright spot to my creative mind. We all have issues and it is so great to work them out in any way possible! I have now lost 40 pounds and sewing my fool head off by altering what I still like in my own closet. Your inspiration is very practical! I am so glad that you are going to continue!
    Thanks,
    MaryAnn

  • Taunasita

Oh I am so delighted that you will be continuing! I’ve been following your blog for months now and you have completely inspired me to take up sewing again. I’m very tall and thin and store bought clothes just don’t fit. This last month I have tailored and fixed many items that weren’t quite right and are now fabulous. I can’t wait to see how you continue. Thank you for being so fun and full of creative juicy ideas!

  • Alexandra Mason

I have loved following your blog it is so inspirational! Glad you are going to continue :) Have a great week xx

  • Sheknits1

    WoooHooooo! Let the party begin!!!!!!!!

  • Connie Edgington

I’ve enjoyed seeing your creations in the few months that I’ve been following you. I wish that I was as creative as you are, but that’s not one of the gifts God gave me. I look at what you start out with and how it looks in the end. And quite often I think “I wouldn’t have seen that in that piece.” Thanks so much for sharing with us! I look forward to seeing what you have in store in for us in the future. Connie

  • Ktskitwin

I have been reading your blog for months now (and back-read the ones I missed) and never commented! But I wanted to say thank you and you are so creative! I enjoy your outfits, witty commentary and little adventures. I live in Alaska and always laugh at your “cold” temps and get jealous of the cute strapless outfits you can wear year round. I am sad to see it end but happy you will continue in some way!

  • Bethanyhdavis

You have inspired my so much Marisa! I am so sad to see the daily blogs go but am so excited to see where this post 365 era takes you. Good Luck, although I’m sure you won’t need it and thank you so much for being such a great Muse.

  • Covet Collective

We are so excited to hear this isn’t the end! You rock, and we can’t wait to see what is next.

  • Red574sox

Oh my gosh, the last day! I too, as many others below, am sad to see the daily blogs end, however I can’t wait to see the transformation this blog tkae in the new year. You have inspired me to start sewing again, but most importantly, I think you’ve made me really look at things differently. Seeing beyond the first glance! :)

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
    Cheers!

  • L.

I found out about you nearly halfway through your journey. It was so heartening to see you perform magic with a small machine that is quickly and quietly becoming a dinosaur. I have derived countless numbers of hours creating things from fabric. To watch you create wonderful pieces from someone else’s discards gives me hope that others will discover the joy of wearing something self-made.

  • Judy Skow

I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE NOT QUITING THIS BLOG I LOOK FORWARD TO THIS EVERY MORNING I GET UP I HEAD TO MY COMPUTER TO SEE YOUR NEWEST PROJECT YOU ARE AWEMAZING KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR JUDY IN IOWA

  • POLLUXjac

Congrats! After a whole year what an understatement! I tried to just journal every day for a year and that didn’t even happen, haha. What an inspiration to all of us you have been, and so glad you’re continuing on so we all have something fun and inspiring to read at work :) three cheers for Marisa Lynch!

  • Kissem37

I’ll echo the sentiments of everyone here and say I’m so glad you are continuing! And it’ll be nice to not have the constraints of an outfit a day- I can’t wait to see what other creative outlets you pursue for the next 365!
When you’re done with your break, take a moment to reread some of the comments here- they are a true testament to how you’ve inspired and amused all of us for the past year. You have made quite an impact!
    Take care and happy creating!
    Karen

  • Lhiiiz

Bravo on a wonderful accomplishment! This blog has been such a great treat, and I’m glad to hear it’s going to continue in some form or fashion. (Unintended pun ftw!) I think today’s piece was a sweet and fitting tribute to the end of the original intent of this project. You really are an inspiration to a girl about to hit that 30 mark, and feeling a bit lost in some of the same ways you did. I raise my glass to you, (even if it’s only filled with water at the moment!)

Cheers Marisa! You are made of awesome stuff!

  • Jelena

I’m soooooooo glad you’re continuing to blog :)
It doesn’t matter that you won’t be redoing dresses every day, I’m glad you’re staying with us :)

Standing ovation!! Encore desired!! Thanks for all the inspiration you have given me and such fun! I have been using my leftover shoulder pads to make pincushions that I am going to give as gifts for Christmas. Tucking them into little flower pots and hot gluing them in there!

Take care of yourself, Marisa. See you in the blogosphere soon, I hope.

  • Ann

I only started reading your blog over the last 2 months. You have been such an inspiration to loads of people including myself. Thank you for all the hard work you have put into all you have done. I live in Herefordshire, England and wish that we had the thrift shops and other places you have bought the items so cheaply. I am starting to look in charity shops for items or fabric I think I can do something with

You are a joy! I am so glad you are going to continue this in some form. You are building community and inspiring creativity in all your readers. So just imagine yourself the star at the top of the tree and keep on shining! (That gave me an idea…Do you think one could make puffy stars out of shoulder pads?)

  • bethany

I am so glad you’re going to continue on with this blog! I was dreading the last day. You have definitely inspired me to get doing the same thing. Only not so public. It truly opens up so many possibilities when I go to Goodwill and can use almost any size in the store to make something fabulous! Thank you for sharing your creativity!

Congratulations! Thank you so much – I have had lots of fun reading your blog. I live in Melbourne, Australia!

You have created wonderful pieces and you have certainly inspired me ! I now look closthes in a whole different way. Even the ones in my closet – adjusted a few things here and there instead of throwing items out!

I look forward to reading more from your blog and I cannot wait to see what you have planned next to share with us !

  • Vtomba

Congratulations! Have so enjoyed every day seeing what magic you would work with the craziest choices of dresses in the world. Can’t wait to see what you do with all the shoulder pads and whatever else you dream up!

    Marissa,
I stumbled onto your blog a few months ago. I couldn’t wait each day to see the before and after. I was continually amazed at your creativity. May your creativity continue to abound!

  • Kylee

Congratulations on completing an amazing project! I used to thrift in high school and kinda fell out of the tradition during college. However, when I found your blog a couple of months ago, it motivated me to get back in the spirit and I’ve been going weekly since. You have INSANELY creative ideas and you’ve inspired me to learn to sew so I can make my own recreations. Thank you so, so much and keep up the amazing work!

  • Sshaw940

You are amazing. Really. You make me feel like I can create anything with just a little fabric and optimisim :o ) I’ll be putting that feeling to the test soon! I can’t wait to hit up some thrift stores! Thanks for all your hard work and laughs along the way.

I have really enjoyed your blog, and now look at clothes in a new way, and I look at my sewing machine (new in it’s box) less as a threat, and more as something to be mastered, and turned to work my creative will… Thank-you. You’ve amused, amazed and inspired me.

  • http://katecoloredglasses.wordpress.com/ Kate

I’m sad you’ve gotten to 365 already! But happy to hear that you’ll still be posting stuff. You’ve been incredibly inspiring and I’ve loved keeping up with your dresses.

I’m so glad you are going to continue with a sewing blog! Love the hearts. My 32 and 28 year old daughter have always thrifted, but have never sewn. The younger one however does have the “eye” and will pick up a pair of jeans and a length of velvet. I’m not sure how she talks me into deconstructing and reconstructing jeans that now have a velvet stripe down the side and velvet underlying the stingy holes in the knees. Waiting to see what you come up with for the shoulder pads…I still say a nice cozy quilt. My 86 year old mom, however, has always made hot pads out of them.

  • Tricia Sears

Yeaaaah!!!! I missed tuning yesterday, your last day, and was afraid you would be gone today. Boo hoo!!! But, you’re still here & coming back for more… Hip, hip, hooray, you’re gonna stay!!!!! I’m finishing up on the last 5 dolls by this Sat. (2nd Christmas Sale @ the Community Center), and taking time out to make presents for my granddaughter. I’m making a triple bunk bed for her dolls out of one of those white vinyl 3 tier cheap storage racks that I’ve had around forever. Her dolls need beds desperately (they’re all 4 stacked in one cradle I gave her 2yrs. ago), and I need to downsize… less to dust when energy is running low. I so look forward to your next installments, and have plenty of redoables in my collection of “bargains” & outgrowns, (I recently lost 60lbs & have 40 to go) There’s also now a FREEBY BOX outside the Senior Center Resale Store & , of course, I couldn’t resist all the possibilities.!!LOL I would love to hear what you’ve learned about sewing; challenges of different fabrics, how to choose a “possibility”, did you ever need to “stay stitch” seams to keep from raveling?, do some fabrics cause problems if you have to tear out mistakes more than once? Are you now interested in learning more about sewing methods? Also, what did you learn about yourself?…. other than you’re awesomely clever and “able to leap tall bldgs. in a single bound”, and perservering, and…. I am just so excited you’re gonna keep”Keepin’ On”(As my generation used to say, back in the day) I’ve also decided to be the permanent “Doll Lady” at the Sr Cntr. & work on doing some dolly designs throughout the yr. when I don’t have to feel so pressured, & won’t have to try to fix 30 dolls in 2 1/2 mo. WHEW!!! DID IT! More champagne, garcon! Rest up & enjoy the Holidays, which I’m sure you will. TTFN

  • Amiee

Your final dress is gorgeous and very fitting! Happy belated final $1 dress day but glad to hear you will be back with more!

  • Pattyson

I have been entertained and inspired by your journey. I’ve never seen anybody so good at making lemonaide out of sour lemons. You have the imagination to turn ugly into beautiful and also the creativity to turn a job loss into something that has created a huge following of people that have caught some of your spark. What you have done this past year is important. Your talent will take you wherever you want to go. I would love to see you have a program on HGTV.

  • Rebecca

My daughter and I have looked forward to your site every day. We are avid thrifters and love to see someone else’s passion for it. It’s nice to see a true bargain hunter and you look beautiful and like a million bucks every day. You deserve all the success you get and I look forward to being your supporter for years to come.

  • Cyndi

Thank you for your creativity and your passion. It’s been a real blessing, you are one of a kind!!

  • Fabulouswun

I just want to thank you for sharing this awesome journey. It is the simplest things that bring us joy and your blog is a great example. The best things in life are free (or about a $1). Reading this everyday makes me smile and I can’t wait for phase two. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily…………………

  • Paula

I am so glad you are going to continue; you have been such an inspiration for me! I’ve looked forward to it every day. Good luck with all the new creations, I can’t wait to see them.

  • Melinda

I found you a couple of months ago and you have continued to be the highlight of my day. I love seeing your styles and cheerful face every day! You have been so inspiring – I know it is hard to continue to stick with something every single day…something that I aspire to. You have helped to spark my own creativity and energy. I also love that you are based in LA – I lived there for eight years and hope to get back – it is fun to see you at so many of my beloved places so cute and all dressed up – Farmer’s Market, The Grove, etc. Can’t wait to keep following you. Thanks for being you! Have a wonderful holiday season. Love, Ex LA girl, Melinda

  • Zoe

    Dear Marisa,

This is the first time I have posted, but I have seen every one of your creations, and will now look at them all again. I don’t know how to sew (I quit this particular endeavor after breaking nine sewing machine needles one evening for a home ec project, and after the last needle went entirely through my thumb before it broke, thus covering the disgusting garment with blood), but I get vicarious pleasure from your amazing, creative, and lovely creations. Keep on, please Marisa! And thank you from Venezuela!

    Zoe

  • Leila Vibrola

YEAH! So happy you are going to carry on! I love this site, and you have inspired me as you have so many others. Go Marisa!

Yay! I’m so pleased you are going to continue, but even more pleased that you realize you deserve a breather for a while. Well done!

  • Anne-Marie

You have done an absolutely amazing thing in the past year and I have loved looking at every one of your creations. I know that I don’t know you personally but in a way, I feel like you are a friend. You have inspired me to try some of my own creations I feel like just by reading your blog, you were the one who showed me it was possible to be stylish even on a limited budget. Thank you so much for that! I look forward to seeing what your future brings!:)

  • Cheri Spain

Now that is the best Christmas gift you could have given me…the continuation! I am personally relieved that you will be here for us next year. I have been a thrift store gal for a long time but you have inspired me to pick out pieces that I would normally pass just so I can try and alter them into something more trendy. I only wish I had you around 10 years ago! Thanks again for continuing….we love you!

  • Ellen

YAY – I’m so happy you’ll still be posting so we can keep up with you. This has been sich a fun journey and I feel honored to be able to share it with you and everyone else. BTW, the hearts dress was darling!!!

  • Katie

I must say I’ve enjoyed reading this blog so much since I found it in March. I know nothing of sewing but have always wanted to learn. I loved your dye tutorial and have been planning on trying it myself.

  • Kathy Manson

Marisa, Thank you sooooooo much for letting us take this journey with you. It has certainly been a fantastic one. It is a wonderful thing that you did letting so many people be a part of such a turning point in your life. I am a painter and have definitely benefitted from your inspiration, laughter, suspense and joy. I found that when I felt depleted of energy and direction I could come sit down, laugh and explore with you and suddenly the creative juices would be flowing everywhere. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the great year and if your not going anwhere girlfriend, neither am I.

I have so enjoyed my time with you and your journey. You have made me smile, made me reminisce, made me laugh and sparked a few ideas of my own.
Hope to see you in something fabulous soon…..whatever that may be!!

    Marisa,
Thanks a lot for all your fantastic ideas! I sure enjoyed reading and looking at your summery dresses from the contant cold in Sweden. Looking forward to see more !But I think you really have earned a time off the blog… Keep my fingers crossed that you will be back again! Lots of hugs from Stockholm!

I’ve loved reading your blog. It’s nice to see what a critical eye, sewing skills, and creativity can do to some of these outfits. Your commentary is delightful as well. I look forward to seeing more!

  • Emailmeanniec

Have fun…I know I will. Redesigning clothing is a joy that you and I share; something nobody can ever take away from us!

  • Anners

I hope you keep having so much fun…I know I will! Redesigning clothing is a joy that you and I share, though it is considered odd in a 16 year old. But do I mind? NO!!! I just keep doing what I love, making life a whole lot brighter (despite the fact that it is raining right now!) I love your blog and wanted you to know it!

  • Katie :)

Definitely got a brand new marc jacobs wallet at a thrift store for $3.29 and it’s all thanks to you and your inspiring self :) yay for frugal spending!

  • Kit

Thanks for all your inspirations! I posted a while back that you made me want to learn to sew, don’t think you’d remember that. But I did buy myself a sewing machine and I made my first shirt last month! Thanks for helping! <3

  • Memarti99

I so enjoyed reading you every day (even though many times it was just on Saturday that I would read the whole week.) I love sewing too but who has time. I’m a busy mom and grandma (young grandma, mind you) and wife and employee and daughter. I even went to the local thrift store and bought an item that was so pretty and colorful and even though the vision is in my head, I have not gotten around to actually making it. I will eventually. Good luck with everything you decide to try your hand at. That is the important thing. So many young people your age just talk and talk and never get up off their butt to do anything but you’re different. I know your mom and all your family is proud of you. I am too. Merry Christmas!

  • Marissa

Congratulations and as always I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

  • Ami

A quick comment… I only “discovered” your blog/journey about 3 months ago, but I’ve been amazed at the transformations I’ve seen, and inspired to get back into sewing myself. :) Thank you for opening up your journey to the world through this blog. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the next year!

  • geek+nerd

Oh wow…I got a little teary reading this! What a beautiful dress concept for day 365. I am so happy that you are going to continue blogging. You are such an inspiration. Isn’t it amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it? Best, Sarah

  • Gene Chanelle

Thank you Marisa for the 365 days of inspiration! xoxo

  • Betty

I have loved following your blog from the day I first learned about it. You are an inspiration to me and to many of us. I have been been scouring thrift stores since before you were born, but your creativity has given me new eyes when I go shopping. You have a great future in store!

  • Barbie

I have been redesigning thrift store finds since I was about 16 years old working at a thrift store and getting paid in merchandise (with a 50% discount). I, however, didn’t get nearly as creative as you. I only tailored things that were too big or had holes. Your blog has given me new eyes in the thrift store. Now anytime anyone of my friends or family has a piece of clothes that they would have otherwise thrown out, they just give it to me to make whatever I will out of it. This Christmas I’m giving my brother a remote control holder for his armchair made out of a pair of brown polyester slacks and a lavender, lime, and orange tie. So far this Christmas I’ve spent $0 and my plan is to spend no more. So, Thank you! Your blog rocks!

  • Lahtr2

Thank you for your creativity! I’ll be checking back to see what’s next. Happy New Year!!

  • Tori

Thank you for your daily updates!! I’ve loved having a little creative spark in my inbox for the last year. This year went so fast! I can’t believe its over, but I look forward to more updates :) thank you for making me want to buy, wear, shop, alter and try my hand at creating unique clothes (although some days I just wanted to steal your creation hehe!)
You’ve really made something for yourself that you’ve shared and made into a sort of community. Congratulations for the great year you’ve had… good things come to those who wait, but also persevere, try, dream and keep a smile on their face like you have. Congratulations again, thank you again, and keep up the amazing work! (maybe one day they’ll make a movie about you! If they do, I’ll be first in line to see it! Who do you want to play you?? :) )

So glad you are continuing. You have a gift. At a time of economic downturn for the country, you have found a way to make thrift shops fun. Bless you for your creativity.

  • slipstitch

Very clever. I was sort of torn about this final one. I actually liked the navy blue with tiny red flowers and would have probably made a killer kicky boot skirt out of it. But I understand the need to create a scrapbook piece.

    pretty cool idea!!
